ABOUT CITYTEAM HOUSE OF GRACE – SAN JOSE

Surrounded by the rolling hills of California’s Bay Area, Cityteam House of Grace opened in 1994 as a free Christian program that offers long-term residential treatment for women and their children that suffer from substance abuse, abuse, and homelessness. The program is run by a nondenominational Christian organization that helps over 500,000 people in the U.S. and abroad. Although the organization runs several operations in San Jose, the addresses of each home is not published to “protect the privacy of the women in the program.” Detox services are not provided on site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at Cityteam House of Grace begins with a comprehensive assessment by a medical and psychological team to determine if applicants are appropriate for the program. Clients that are admitted to the residential program participate in a series of educational, religious, and sober living skills training courses. The program uses a community-based model combined with the 12-steps principles that focuses on personal responsibility, shared goals, and mentorship. The program typically lasts between 10 and 12 months.

Clients are provided with daycare and general family services for their children so that they can focus on their rehabilitation and education. Clients take classes toward their GED and participate in individual, group, and family counseling. Other core components include 12-step meetings, vocational training, and bible study. The facility also provides educational courses on parenting, spiritual growth, life skills, relapse prevention, and anger management. Residents must obtain employment once they have completed various educational milestones.
