ABOUT NEW BRIDGE FOUNDATION

Located in two mansions in Berkeley Hills, New Bridge Foundation provides residential, outpatient, and intervention services for adults seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Founded in 1968, the agency has supported the recovery of individuals with co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and depression for nearly half a century.

The facility is one of California’s 785 private, non-profit treatment facilities. The treatment programs are personalized and integrated so that clients can move uninterrupted and easily between different levels of care. Detox services are available onsite.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Individuals work toward their goal of leading addiction-free, happy, healthy, and productive lives through New Bridge’s holistic treatment program of traditional and alternative practices. Depending on their needs, individuals may enroll in any of the specialized co-occurring disorder treatment programs, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), or residential programs.

The Helios Program offers three different levels of care. For individuals with little to no outside support system, the Helios Residential track focuses on goal setting. Also within the Helios Program is a day treatment option that runs weekdays, designed for individuals who reside in a safe and sober homes, as well as an IOP group that meets four nights per week.

For those seeking treatment for chronic drug and alcohol challenges, the START program offers a longer-term residential experience that emphasizes relapse prevention, 12-step support, and vocational preparation. An even more specialized New Bridge program is Operation Success, which assists military members, veterans, and their families.

The inclusion of the 12-Step program can be a significant benefit for participants and is a popular option found in up to 48% of U.S. treatment facilities. Vocational training is also an important element of treatment programs. It is only offered in 38.6% of U.S. facilities, but can have a big impact on clients’ continued sobriety.

Most New Bridge programs offer training and holistic treatment services to address specific condition, such as anger management and pain management. These services may include physical conditioning, yoga, biofeedback sessions, and acupuncture, each of which are run by specialists and instructors on-site. Clients also participate in individual counseling and group therapy. The facility also offers aftercare services, which are free apart from a small fee for urine screening. All clients who complete a primary treatment program enjoy access to aftercare services.
