ABOUT NEW DAWN TREATMENT CENTERS – INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT
In operation since 1987, New Dawn Treatment Centers – Intensive Outpatient (IOP) is located in Sacramento, within minutes of Highway 50. One of the organization’s two CARF-accredited IOP locations, the program is designed specifically for recent graduates of either a residential or detox program, or those with substance abuse concerns who are not in need of detox or 24-hour care. Detox is not available on site, but is available through other New Dawn Treatment Centers. Residential treatment is also available at other centers. Lifetime aftercare support is provided to clients that complete the program.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Prior to admission, prospective clients begin with a free confidential assessment. Clients meet with trained addiction counselors to assess their individual needs. Then, an individualized treatment program is created for each client.
The New Dawn Treatment Centers – Intensive Outpatient program (IOP) combines evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with experiential opportunities and programming. Treatment typically lasts six to eight weeks and focuses on four main areas: coping skills, relapse prevention, the neurobiology of addiction, and patient-centered treatment planning.
Clients participate in individual and group counseling sessions three to five days per week. Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are offered to accommodate for anyone’s schedule. Clients are engaged in three daily hours of one-on-one and group therapy sessions led by licensed addiction counselors. In addition, the IOP introduces clients to 12-step AA and/or NA meetings, as well as LifeRing, an abstinence-based support services network, and SMART Recovery.
Aside from clinical treatments, the program uses experiential treatments. These include options such as Yoga and Tai Chi led by qualified leaders. Clients are also encouraged to participate in family counseling when possible.
Aftercare services are available to clients that complete the program. Community group involvement is encouraged. There is also an alumni group for clients that complete the program.
