  • When I first came to California I was in a sober living house and they suggested that I go to Sovereign Health because other treatments didn't work for me and this was a different experience. When I first started using it was weed and marijuana but I gradually moved up to ecstasy then heroin. I was introduced to cough medicine and when I got out to California it was meth and cough medicine and of course marijuana was in between all that and the main thing that brought me to Sovereign was the meth and the cough medicine because I was kicked out of my sober living and I was on the street for about a month. I knew the knowledge of my coping skills my strengths my weaknesses and the 12 step program but I knew it in my head, I didn't know to my heart and I was just getting tired of constantly going in and out of treatment to hospitals and like on and off the street and obviously just tired of living that way and now I have the potential to be good. On the individual sessions they focus a lot on the goals that I needed to work on mentally and it definitely help this time because I got a lot more comfortable with myself and being in situations I was able to introduce myself to people. My expectations were definitely exceeded and they definitely went a lot higher than my expectations. The residence were very nice apartment and it was nice that there were small apartments and they have small amount of people in each apartment so it is very easy to get to those people and if you are not in a good mood they can tell because they are always around you and everybody just helps each other out. Two of my favorite groups were meditation and art therapy. I am a very spiritual person and those were two of my most favorite groups. Sovereign what they do very well is like I mentioned before they are very goal oriented if you want to better yourself they will help you and because it helped me out and like even my parents and my friends can even tell that this is a my last and final time. Definitely have fun with sobriety not judging people because like the people I met here I didn't even expect that I would become friends with them and hopefully they are lifelong friends and another thing is just staying focus and looking at my positives and breaking out of my comfort zone. About the program you get what you put into it. If you come here with a negative attitude thinking that oh I am just doing this to make my parents happy it is not going to help and I have known because it took me a long time to actually do it for myself this is my 12 treatment and I really want to better my life this time.

  • I came to know about Sovereign from a friend of mine who has already taken treatment from here. My expectations were to get well. I have an addiction and the classes were very informational. I learned a lot of coping skills, I learned to adjust when I get back out in the real world I am very pleased with the program. The residence I stayed in was a housing area at first a large home with a big kitchen and food was provided. I am very pleased with the therapist. She gave me confidence .The entire staff they start from the beginning when you are not well and they followed through with you they give you confidence they are your friends they are your confidante it is nice. We had a lot of different sessions of co-dependency a community meeting there were so many I can't name them all but it touched bases with all our needs whether we were in an addiction or in mental health issue they touch base with everything. My experience personally, I have gained confidence I have gained knowledge about my addiction so that I am aware when I go back out in the real world how to cope. If I were to tell my friends about this place I would say it is awesome that the program from beginning to end it is going to work for the next person.

  • Lied to me what the rest of my maximum out of pocket was on my insurance. Had to pay that up front to get her into their facility. My bad for not checking myself. Made an unauthorized charge on my daughter's mother's credit card. I had to hold money from my insurance company for them until they gave it back to her. After my daughter was released they kept saying we owed more money and that I had not sent them everything the insurance company had sent to me which was a lie. They would never send a bill to my daughter stating was billed and what was owed when asked to do so several times.

  • The absolute worst. Steer clear of this place. My husband was in 2 houses. Both were terrible. The staff was unavailable in any capacity, unprofessional, rude, uncaring. Repeated calls for information concerning the progress of my husband went unreturned. Do not use this poor excuse for a mental health recovery treatment center.
Never ever ever would I recommend this place to anyone. They are unorganized, understaffed, and provide the worst care I've ever seen in a healthcare facility. It takes absolutely forever for anything to get done...There is absolutely no privacy and it is completely unprofessional. Do not waste your money or your time on this program. Absolutely everyone I have talked to here would agree.

  • I'm afraid I can only agree with the other reviewer's opinions of Sovereign Health in Palm springs...Drivers and staff are as profane as common street thugs. No Md available even though the program is there to provide for dual diagnosis patients... The best thing about the experience was the other guys that wanted to recover. They were great. Also, be ready to do your own cooking and cleaning and you may have talk a driver into a grocery run and pay for things like milk, water, cups, tp,.... This is not a place to recover from addiction.
This center was dishonest about the services they provided, the treatment and about how my child was doing. I would not recommend any one take their child there. It was a huge mistake. It did far more damage then good.

  • The promise intense therapy but didn't deliver. Not enough staff. Didn't offer very many AA or NA meetings because short staffed. Attended two in two weeks. No place to seek sanctuary from mental health patients, mental health and addiction patients mixed together. Staff was not professional. I can't recommend this place to anyone. Not really a luxury program. Room was not nice, detox was coed and rushed in two days. Clients were not supervised no cameras, I didn't feel safe.

  • Truly a waste of money. My brother conned the staff, including the psychologist, even though we warned them. Over promised from the beginning to the end. Horrible communication. Complete misrepresentation of the whole program.
For starters, don't by into the pretty pics of this place, it is anything but. I have top quality insurance that covered me to have the best of care, they were horrified when I spoke to them to let them know why I was leaving. I could write a book of the outrageous treatment, or should I say lack of treatment I received. Rather than write a scathing rant I going to simplify it by writing a list of WHY NOT to send a loved one or yourself here for quality care. 1. The administration of this place does not care! 2. They are only in business for the hefty checks they collect from patients paying out of pocket or the insurance companies that cover treatment/treatments. 3. You are treated as an inmate rather than a patient wanting to recieve help. 4. They keep you waiting hours, and by that I mean days to see a therapist, doctor, or any support staff to medically help you. 5. My nutritional needs were not even close to being met. 6. My first night I was taken to a really crappy group home, that felt more like I was in witness protection than a treatment center. ... 8. Quality of sleep, ha! What sleep? You are two women in a room the size of a shoebox, in twin beds, that are worse than anything you could ever imagine. 9. You share an unclean bathroom with three other women. 10. You are picked up over an hour late to be taken to the main center where you should of been participating in a variety of group therapy or other type of what should be motivational activities to help anyone with mental health or addiction issues, because that is what we are paying for right? WRONG! I sat around all day, doing nothing but watching a board game being played with about 10 people. ... ... 13. After wasting my entire day and into the evening with no patient care of any kind or my concerns being taken seriously after I expressed myself clearly multiple times without being heard and only told to wait patiently, I finally saw the doctor I was told I needed to see after waiting close to 10 hours. Dr. Ball's response to me was " What can I do for you, because I really have no reason to see you today".... 14. After all of that I was livid! Tired, angry, hungry, thirsty, just to name a few things! ... ... 17. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS PLACE!!! I will say this, some of the therapist, nurses and other medical staff really want to help the patients, but their hands are tied because of all the colossal mess ups on the administrative staffs part. I feel bad because they want to do their job, but can't. All around a really bad place.

  • This is a completely disorganized facility. Lacking very basic necessities such as food, water and medical attention. ...Therapists don't have time to see clients, clinicians late or absent from groups (due to meetings with management). I am grateful to have had a good therapist who made time for me but who resigned and left Sovereign the same day I did. The director of operations seems to be more interested in making sure that clients do not get the help they need than in doing his job. ... There are so many quality treatment centers to choose from - do yourself a favor and choose carefully. Your life or that of a loved one may depend on it!
