ABOUT CHICO RECOVERY CENTER
Founded in 1991, Chico Recovery Center (CRC) offers outpatient treatment for individuals struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol. The organization is located in east Chico, a city spread along the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada in northern California.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The length and intensity of treatment varies according to each client’s needs.
Since CRC offers outpatient care only, most new clients are in the relatively early stages of addiction and do not have any medical needs on admission, though the center can provide referrals to outpatient detox when necessary.
CRC subscribes to the disease concept of addiction. The center helps clients to understand the 12-step program and to work toward self-acceptance. All clients must attend at least three 12-step meetings per week during treatment, and must have found a sponsor by their sixth week of treatment.
Therapy is provided in individual and group settings, and the center also provides educational lectures and videos on topics such as families of origin, the disease model, relapse prevention, and communication patterns. A family program provides family counseling and education, and loved ones are also encouraged to attend Al-Anon meetings.
All successful graduates of the program may make use of 12 months of free aftercare support.
