The Lakehouse Recovery Center

The Lakehouse Recovery Center Westlake Village California

The Lakehouse Recovery Center of Ventura, Orange, and Los Angeles County successfully offers advanced and highly successful drug addiction & alcoholism treatment! Available to men and women nationwide.

The Lakehouse Recovery Center difference exists on many levels and is the culmination of many years experience; but at the heart of it all, the drive behind optimizing the client’s experience here is founded on a core passion to help change lives and rebuild families. We understand the worlds of active addiction and active recovery from every angle. More importantly though, we apply our expertise in a way that manifests as a “treatment experience” rather than just another drug rehab center.

ABOUT THE LAKEHOUSE RECOVERY CENTER

Located on Lake Sherwood in Westlake Village, Calif., The Lakehouse Recovery Center provides a full continuum of substance abuse treatment in a small, boutique setting. After completing their initial 28 days of residential care, successful program graduates may access an additional 12 months of aftercare support, offered at 81.6 percent of California treatment centers. During this time, clients recieve 24-hour support through The Stonesgate House, the center’s luxurious transitional and sober living home.

For those in need, this facility is one of the only 200 (14 percent) in the state to provide medically supervised detoxification on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, all clients undergo a complete medical, psychiatric, and psychotherapeutic evaluation. Individuals requiring medical attention to alleviate their withdrawal symptoms typically begin treatment with sub-acute medical detox. The detox team is comprised of both medical and mental health professionals, and treatment may include medication in addition to talk therapy, dietary elements, and holistic modalities.

Once stabilized, clients may proceed with primary care that lasts between 30 and 90 days. Over this period, clients will set daily goals for themselves, attend private and group psychotherapy sessions and therapeutic workshops, and benefit from some of the latest developments in neuroscience therapy. While programming draws upon the renowned 12 Steps, the center simply encourages clients to find what works best for them, be it experiential therapy or life coaching.

For an additional year after completing treatment, successful program graduates work with their assigned case managers, individuals with three or more years of successful sobriety. Close at hand, these “advocates” provide accountability and monitoring through regular phone calls and Skype sessions.

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is also available for those who are unable to make a full-time commitment to residential treatment. This program spans three to four hours each day, and involves individual, group, and family counseling.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Per the center’s webpage, the Lakehouse Recovery Center boasts a staff-to-client ratio of 3:1 as well as 24-hour staff availability. The facility’s 22-member team consists of psychologists, counselors, residential technicians, on-call doctors, and full-time chefs. Indeed, 98.3 percent of California treatment centers have continuing education requirements for staff, and this facility is no exception.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

True to its name, The Lakehouse Recovery center offers picturesque views of Lake Sherwood, which can be taken in from the center’s furnished patio. The center can accommodate up to six clients at once, each of whom stays in a private bedroom.

Home-cooked meals are prepared daily by full-time chefs, and clients have membership to a nearby gym, as well as on-site yoga, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and fishing. Other activities include surfing, horseback riding, and guitar lessons. On a case-by-case basis, the center allows clients to bring pets with them.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The six alumni surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date only shared positive reports on their experiences. Former client R.M. noted the “beautiful setting, the private rooms and the wonderfully prepared, healthy meals,” and alum N.L. found the location itself “stunning.” Without exception, all six alumni found treatment itself very effective.

In a representative review, J.M. expressed appreciation for his newfound recovery tools. “It taught me a way of life, that is much simpler than the life I was leading. I would highly recommend anyone struggling with addiction…” he wrote. Alumni were also grateful for the “amazing” staff here, several of whom referred to as “loving and caring.”

Alumni shared overwhelmingly positive feedback on Google, too, where 16 users have generated a perfect five-star average rating to date.[1] The location and staff were similarly praised, and one alum was proud to note how he researched “probably a hundred rehabs” before rightfully selecting this one. “The staff and location are both beautiful and engaging,” another former client, M.L., remarked in a representative comment.

The Lakehouse earned a perfect five out of five stars on Yelp as well, from 17 users at the time of this writing.[2] The “tranquil setting,” the “caring staff,” and the “great program” were all praised. Representatively, J.W. noted, “Plain and simple, this is an amazing place to recover.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

By and large, the six staff members polled by Best-rehabs.com provided praise for their employer and the care provided to clients. J.C.K., one staffer, admitted that “insurance red tape” affected clients’ experiences at times, but described the staff as “united in its goal” and “constantly searching and challenging themselves as a collective and individually to grow.” On a scale of one to five, all but one employee provided a five when asked about the staff’s willingness to put the clients’ interests first.

Collectively, these reviewers agreed on staff unity. “We are committed to helping people,” reviewer A.R. wrote. “It has been very rewarding.” Others noted the effectiveness of programming here. “Our aftercare is great and we stay in touch with our clients and get to see a lot of success stories,” C.B. commented. All six employees replied “No,” when presented with the question “Have you ever had questions/concerns about the standards of care at your facility that went unresolved?” Additionally, all agreed that they would recommend this facility to a loved one in need of treatment.

FINANCING

According to its webpage, the center is out-of-network with major health insurance providers, including Anthem, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, to name a few. The center also offers loans through its partnership with My Treatment Lender. Four staff members polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing noted that the facility does offer financial support to those who need it, but only two of these individuals reported that they felt the support to be adequate.

The Lakehouse Recovery Center Reviews

although i have never stayed there i do know some of their staff. some of them sober, some not. when i hear stories of the staff sitting around slandering already sober people that they really don't know, i question their integrity and therefore the effectiveness of the facility as a whole., engaging in gossip and character assassination, are basic no no's of AA. if the staff doesn't know this i question their ability to transmit the necessary principles required for a proper foundation of recovery.
We have a family vibe that supports a sense of community. If our clients desire to be a part of the recovery community our staff puts a lot of time and effort into seamlessly integrating them into it. Our aftercare is great and we stay in touch with our clients and get to see a lot of success stories and see them around the area sober/clean and happy. I haven't seen anything that has concerned me at Lakehouse and our accompanying sober living. I've been around and seen some shady dealings but we sweep nothing under the rug and always put our clients first. Our staff is like a family and the clients get to see and be a part of that. However, very few (but some) clients do not appreciate that we have a well thought out level system that require them to adhere to certain rules and complete chores in order to gain privileges. We have a unique and successful program. We get people from all over and all walks of life that are honored to watch grow. Our facility has a great reputation and our staff take helping people very seriously.
Intimate setting and care from staff. We have a 24 hour admissions department.
We are committed to helping people. It has been very rewarding.
Strengths include: non-institutional setting, high staff to client ratio, flexible treatment modalities, strong aftercare and alumni program, excellent staff commitment, superb amenities. We are non-judgmental and the staff is committed to recovery first. The Lakehouse Recovery Center offers structured, yet compassionate support for men and women in recovery and emphasizes a holistic approach to care, seeking to simultaneously develop body, mind and spirit. Its multi-faceted, customized programs strive to promote confidence, self-worth and the desire to return to a productive life in sobriety. The Lakehouse is a beautifully appointed home nestled on scenic Lake Sherwood in Southern California. Our boutique six bed program offers private lake access, boating, bass fishing, kayaking, private gardens, walking and bike trails, private rooms, home cooked meals and is pet friendly.
Insurance companies get in the way of patients getting the care required. As a facility we do the best we can within those constraints. The staff is united in its goal and therefore is constantly searching and challenging themselves as a collective and individually to grow and learn ways to better serve our clients. The only weakness I see is we need the next level of credentials to be in network with insurance companies. There are a lot of people we don't get to help because insurance red tape.

  • I was a client at the Lake House 2 1/2 years ago. I have since become a chef at the Lake House. The house and scenic views are beautiful, presenting each client with the peace and tranquility needed for recovery. The staff is incredibly loving and caring. As one of two chefs at the Lake House, it is my personal goal to provide healthy and nutritious meals that can be customized to each clients' needs. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or have food allergies, we can accommodate your needs! As a pet owner myself, I really love that we are a pet friendly facility! Your pets become part of the Lake House family!

  • My alcohol addiction was ruining my marriage, my family relationships and my career. I was desperate. It didn’t take long after arriving at The Lakehouse Recovery Center for me to realize that it was the right choice for me to begin my recovery. The beautiful setting, the private rooms and the wonderfully prepared, healthy meals were but icing on the cake. The real deal for me began with a caring staff who helped me find hope through learning about the nature of the disease of addiction, studying the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, attending AA meetings, and being involved in a program of classes and self discovery that includes one on one counseling, yoga, self expression through art and being of service to others. The pet friendly environment at the Lakehouse makes it unique also, and being a dog lover, I cherish the memories of getting to know a fellow patient’s dog, Guido, while I was there. He was the canine shipmate on our sunset boat rides on Lake Sherwood. I am now very involved in AA. Having found a sponsor and gone through the Twelve Steps, I have gained tools to avoid triggers that may cause relapse in the future and have formed lasting friendships. I recently celebrated seven months of sobriety and my marriage has been revived. This journey has truly been a blessing and I feel deep gratitude to The Lakehouse for my new life.

Although my stay was only 28 days, in that amount of time my life changed drastically. Never in my life have I met people as remarkable as the staff at the Lakehouse. If anyone is serious about changing their life and finding a solution to their problem this is the place to be. In a nutshell this place works, and now my life has become something I never thought imaginable. Thank you Lakehouse
