At Farrell Treatment Center, our recovery programs are meticulously designed to incorporate a variety of approaches, including 12-Step facilitation, mindfulness, relapse prevention, family involvement, and neurobiological intervention. We offer both residential and outpatient care in a non-judgmental environment that promotes respect and dignity. Our goal is to provide clients with solutions, strength, and hope within the walls of Farrell Treatment Center, so they can actively help others struggling with the disease of addiction.
ABOUT FARRELL TREATMENT CENTER
Founded in 1978, Farrell Treatment Center (FTC) is a nonprofit substance abuse rehabilitation facility located in New Britain, southwest of Hartford, Conn. The center offers residential treatment for men, along with standard and intensive outpatient programming for men and women. Dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders is available, as well as Suboxone-assisted treatment. FTC emphasizes a nonjudgmental, holistic approach.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
At Farrell Treatment Center, clients can expect to follow personalized treatment plans that draw from a mix of modalities, including 12-step facilitation, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivation enhancement therapy, mindfulness training, and various trauma-oriented approaches, such as Seeking Safety. In addition, the center provides psychiatric assessment, education on addiction biology, and yoga sessions. The 28-day men’s residential program also includes weekly family education groups and therapy.
FTC’s intensive outpatient programs (IOP) meet three times per week for three-hour sessions and utilize many of the same modalities as residential programming. The center also offers general outpatient programming. Specialized groups focusing on gender-based concerns, young adult addictions, anger management, relapse prevention, early intervention, and marijuana abuse are available as well.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Our 28-bed Farrell Treatment Center is housed in a beautifully restored historic, multistory, red brick former convent. Our on-site chefs prepare most of the meals, ensuring top-quality nutrition for our clients. Unfortunately, we currently do not have further information available regarding our living arrangements and related offerings. However, those who have experienced our accommodations and meals and nutrition have given them four or five out of five stars each, according to Best-rehabs.com.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Best-rehabs.com has received feedback from two alumni of Farrell Treatment Center. Though only one alum left a brief comment stating, “Great program!” the other alum gave perfect five-star ratings for treatment effectiveness and meals and nutrition. This alum also expressed that treatment at our center is successful for those with a genuine desire to recover.
Furthermore, the center’s official Facebook page, where our staff occasionally monitors, has received 25 five-star ratings out of 27 reviews. Alumni who contributed to these reviews agreed with one alum who described Farrell as life-saving and commended the dedication of our staff. One alum, Louis, stated, “The counselors went above and beyond my needs.”
While the majority of reviews were highly positive, one Facebook reviewer named Ty expressed a mediocre opinion, stating, “The program was nothing but book text. No real-life experience. I learned more from the fellow addicts in the house than I did from the staff that tried to drill the same thing over and over.” One of our staff members responded with support and acknowledged that clients can find the most help from their peers.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
