ABOUT CORNERSTONE RECOVERY CENTER

Established in 2012, Cornerstone Recovery Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., provides a full range of substance abuse treatment options that aim to address each client’s past, present, and future as it relates to their addiction, including treatment for co-occurring mental disorders. Programs include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), standard outpatient option, aftercare, and alumni services. Medical detox is not provided on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment starts with a thorough assessment to create an individualized treatment plan, determining which program would provide the most appropriate level of care and how long treatment should last. All programs provide relapse prevention education to help clients address long-term sobriety. Although medical detox is not provided on-site, clients who require medical detox may be referred to a detox program before admission.

Clients enrolled in PHP typically remain in treatment for 30, 60, or 90 days. During this time, they follow an individualized treatment plan consisting of psychiatric consultations, group sessions, individual therapy, dietary guidance, exercise, and 12-step meetings. PHP clients stay in designated off-site, gender-specific housing and have 24-hour supervision.

Those who do not require the structure or intensity of partial hospitalization may opt for IOP or standard outpatient care. Depending on the client’s needs, treatment plans may incorporate 12-step principles, the SMART Recovery model, and holistic elements such as yoga, acupuncture, and massage. Additionally, treatment for those with co-occurring mental health disorders is available. The IOP program is available either in the evening or during the day to accommodate client working and school schedules.

A specialized co-occurring services program (dual diagnosis) is available for clients who suffer from addiction and certain medical disorders, such as major depressive disorder, ADD, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and OCD. This is available in the PHP, IOP, and OP programs and may include medication management, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

Like all of Cornerstone’s offerings, aftercare is customized according to each client’s needs. There is no set treatment duration, and clients determine how often they’d like to meet with case managers and attend group meetings. This program is only available for clients who have completed a treatment program at the Cornerstone Recovery Center.

  • I jumped on a plane having no idea where I was going having just the slightest bit of hope left that something out there could save me from the hell that Id been living in. After detox I ended up at Cornerstone in Ft Lauderdale. At first I had a know it all attitude and thought I had nothing to learn. I stayed 45days in PHP treatment and learnes more about myself and gave my body mind and soul time to heal. I finally gained enough hope to take a few more steps forward and try to better my life. Cornerstone provided resources and tools that helped me grow and change and become a productive member of society. It was an experience of a lifetime and I will be forever grateful for the time I spent there. Small and intimate setting. Good staff and therapy sessions. Fun activities as well as very informative groups on addiction and other pertinent topics.
