ABOUT DREAM CENTER FOR RECOVERY

One of the state’s 366 private, for-profit facilities, Dream Center for Recovery, in Martin County’s Palm City, offers a full continuum of addiction programs for adult men and women, including medical detox, residential treatment, and several levels of outpatient care. Dream Center treats both addiction and co-occurring mental-health disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon intake, all clients undergo a thorough evaluation and assessment, the findings of which inform their individualized treatment plan. After detox, the most intensive level of treatment is residential care, followed by a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), standard outpatient care, and aftercare.

The residential program has a minimum commitment of 30 days, and clients typically attend the IOP for four to six weeks before stepping down to one night of outpatient care a week.

Each day in residential treatment is highly structured, and might include individual, group, and family therapy, plus educational sessions and and life-skills training. All treatment plans draw primarily from evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

The 12-step model of recovery is not integral to the program, though clients do attend 12-step meetings off-site in the evenings. There are also opportunities for clients to participate in trauma resolution therapy and expressive therapies such as art therapy.

During their stay, clients participate in relapse prevention programming and work with staff to put together a personalized aftercare plan, which might include a referral to Dream Center’s own sober living facility.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The center’s treatment team includes a licensed clinical social worker, a physician specializing in psychiatry, and a chiropractor. The single individual polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on the staff’s level of training and experience gave it three out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Clients stay at a renovated apartment complex with seven gender-separate, furnished apartments for two clients each. There’s an outdoor patio area, where they can relax when they’re not in treatment. The single individual polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on the center’s accommodations and its cleanliness gave four stars and three stars, respectively for these areas of the facility.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave glowing feedback. “Dream Center for Recovery (DCR) worked wonders for me. I am currently one year sober and it’s all due to DCR,” Charlene wrote, before praising Dream Center’s rooms, amenities, food, and extracurricular activities.

Dream Center has mostly positive feedback on secondary sites, with average ratings of 4.7 stars based on 37 reviews on Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page), five stars based on 18 reviews on Google, and four stars based on eight reviews on Yelp (including not-recommended reviews).

However, more than one client wrote that they felt the organization was more interested in making money than in helping people. “The bottom line is that at the end of the day they’re a business. When I wanted to leave I could not bc that would have ended their money coming in claiming they want to help me,” Michael wrote in a representative negative review on Yelp.

But far more clients spoke very highly of the program. Their comments tended to be unspecific, yet glowing: “This facility provides the tools necessary for successful recovery. Coming from experiences with multiple facilities Dream Center for Recovery is the best of the best,” Cyndie wrote in a typical comment on Google.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave polarized feedback. One anonymous family member gave the center four stars in most of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its treatment effectiveness, family participation, and counseling options, and wrote: “Many are scams so go to well esttablishd one.” But reviewer C. echoed a few alumni on secondary sites by suggesting that Dream Center is one of these scams, writing: “I can say with 200% certainty that the Dream Center for Recovery is the biggest scam in every way.The owner does not care about the addict she cares about getting paid.”

FINANCING

The cost for one month of treatment starts at $22,000. Dream Center accepts private pay and private insurance plans, including those from Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Uninsured clients can pay for their treatment out of pocket, or take advantage of the center’s occasional scholarship programs.

  • Dream Center for Recovery (DCR) worked wonders for me. I am currently one year sober and it's all due to DCR. DCR has taught me coping skills and how to make my life manageable again. The accommodations are nonetheless more than expected. Rooms are clean, pool is maintained, rec center / cafeteria cleaned. The chef onsite bakes everything. No fried food. If you're allergic to a certain food and / or are a vegetarian, Chef accommodates as much as possible. Every Sunday there's adventure therapy. You learn to live again without the need of alcohol or drugs. DCR tries to bring you back to normality as healthy as possible. I would and have already recommended DCR to people in need of recovery.
Unfortunately it took my son 25 rehabs to finally get it. He has 18 months of sobriety thanx to the Caron Foundation in Pa. Because I had gone thru so many rehabs of all kinds, 12 step, holistic ect. I can say with 200% certainty that the Dream Center for Recovery is the biggest scam in every way.The owner does not care about the addict she cares about getting paid
