ABOUT LUMIERE DETOX CENTER

Located in the sleepy coastal town of Jupiter in South Florida, Lumiere Detox Center is a private rehab that offers detox and residential treatment for adult men and women struggling with substance use disorder and dual diagnosis. In this recovery hotspot of the United States (Lumiere is one of 366 private for-profit rehabs in the state of Florida), Lumiere hopes to set itself apart through evidence-based programming and a new, purpose-built facility.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment is evidence-based and focuses on clients’ strengths and aspirations, with a view to helping them toward lasting sobriety. Many clients experiencing withdrawal symptoms begin by detoxing in a relaxing environment supported by 24-hour monitoring. In this initial phase, clients typically avoid physical exercise, but have access to TV and board games and other low-stress activities. Groups are optional to clients in detox.

Once they’ve completed detox, clients enter the more rigorous phase of their Lumiere experience: residential treatment. Beginning with a 7 a.m. wake up, residents spend their days in group therapy and one-on-one sessions, both designed to explore the root of their addiction. Programming covers an expansive array of recovery-related topics, with group titles like “stress and anxiety”, “triggers and impulses”, and “honesty and denial.”

Outside of therapy and meetings, clients also have regular recreation time, with basketball, exercise classes, cookouts, and movie nights all on schedule.

Towards the end of their stay, clients work with their assigned treatment team to develop an effective discharge plan. Lumiere also offers weekly alumni meetings, and clients are also invited to stay in touch via social media.

Two of the four negative reviewers complained of rude staff; there were also isolated complaints of a billing problem, a lack of phone calls and visitation, and a sense that the management enabled clients’ bad behavior.

“This place Lumiere is part of the problem in South Florida treatment. Nothing special about them the management is simply horrendous… Steer clear of this facility,” Richard wrote. However, Erica disagreed, writing: “I was in so much pain during my detox, but the staff and doctors made me comfortable,” adding praise for the center’s food and amenities. Alum J.B. added: “The nurses were kind and at times tough, which was needed for my recovery.”

  • I am appalled at the way I was treated at this facility. I have had 10 years of sobriety through AA etc.. I recently relapsed and I have a schizophrenic son that I can't leave at home for long periods of time and my fiance is on the road. I have a dual diagnosis with severe anxiety and panic attacks. I have been to a detox center before and the first thing they do is give you an anti anxiety medicine that coinsides with history. When asked if I could have something for anxiety they offered vistoral which is just an allergy medicine that I am actually allergic to. The nursing staff refused to give me anything more for my anxiety telling me there was no way I could have been feeling that because I wasn't going through withdrawels yet. Dual diagnosis you idiots! Most all alcholics or addicts have a dual diagnosis. This is the most uncaring ignorant medical staff I have EVER incountered. I was driven 2 hours away from home thinking and trusting that I would receive the level of care I was paying for. I stopped the admission and called my fiance to come and get me. I was sitting outside for 2 hours as the doors are locked in the rain waiting for my fiance. Several people came in and out and not one of them asked if they could help. I asked one individual for water and they never came out with it. I am a 56 year old women who was sitting on the ground in the rain for 2 hours. I am an alcoholic..but no matter what..I deserve respect. I was lied to and told they woukd detox me when I was drunk. The bottom line is Rehab/detox centers are a business and make their money off of insurance. I have since gotten off the alcohol through my MD and am back to AA and back to work !! You don't need a treatment center...go to your doctor and AA and work the steps..above all..never go to this treatment center as the medical staff have absolutely no idea what they are doing. If this is reviewed and not posted..I will be calling.

  • Lumiere saved my life, period! It was not easy but it's not supposed to be. I learned a lot about myself and found the root of my problem. The med techs were great,Petwr the psychotherapist is a life saver. The nurses were kind and at times tough, which was needed for my recovery. I did the detox and residential and am a different person today for sticking it out even when it got difficult and frustrating. I finally learned patience and self control.

  • I was in so much pain during my detox, but the staff and doctors made me comfortable. My meals were per paired of those from a five star restaurant. There was an abundance of food so you could eat little to as much as you wanted. The bed was comfy along with cable tv to relax and catch up on rest. I’m thankful to have been able to get better at this facility!!
Very rude staff never been im jail but from what I'm told worse than jail. No visitors. No phone calls

  • This place Lumiere is part of the problem in South Florida treatment. Nothing special about them the management is simply horrendous anybody in a management position are your typical enablers that just want to turn and burn your loved one. Steer clear of this facility .if you're reading this it will probably be only a matter of time until they remove my honest review of Lumiere Healing Center.
I wanted to let everyone know that I had a legitimate complaint about a invoice at Lumiere. He would not even listen to my story. He started out the conversation by saying let me save you a lot of time, you will not be getting a credit to this invoice. Gave me very little time to explain my side of the story, and he eventually hung up on me, not really the type of consideration people need when dealing with addiction. Very one sided.
