The facility opened in December of 1995[1] and has been serving individuals and families affected by substance abuse and interpersonal violence on an outpatient basis ever since. The center operates Monday through Thursday, offering outpatient services for substance abuse, anger management, and domestic violence.


Treatment includes both individual and family counseling, and staff primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, education, and other humanistic approaches. Access Capabilities also works to treat co-occuring mental health disorders.


The CEO of Access Capabilities is licensed in the state of Hawaii as a Mental Health Counselor, as well as being a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) and a Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJAP), according to the facility’s site. Based on information provided on the facility’s Facebook page, trained clinicians administer treatment to clients. The facility is accredited for behavioral health services by the Joint Commission.

Michael, the sole reviewer to date and a staff member of Access Capabilities, described the facility as “a good place to recover from addiction.” Based on a five-point scale, he provided four-star ratings for the facility’s treatment effectiveness, family participation, cleanliness, affordability, and counseling options. The same reviewer indicated that he would recommend treatment at the facility. Among the center’s downfalls, he wrote “funding.”
