ABOUT DAYBREAK YOUTH SERVICES — VANCOUVER

Founded in 1978, Daybreak Youth Services is a nonprofit organization that operates five facilities in Vancouver and Spokane, providing residential and outpatient services for teenagers struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. In Vancouver, our services include residential treatment for boys aged 12 to 17 and outpatient treatment for boys and girls aged 10 to 18.

For girls and further outpatient services, please visit our Spokane locations.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The length of stay in residential treatment varies based on each client’s needs. During residential treatment, clients participate in at least one hour of individual counseling weekly, as well as weekend family education sessions, family therapy, education about recovery, training in mindfulness and coping strategies, and multiple support meetings every week. Residents are also responsible for completing daily chores.

Support groups include gender-specific sessions, as well as sessions related to recovery, spirituality, and mental health. Holistic practices such as yoga, art, music, and carpentry classes may also be integrated to facilitate recovery.

Outpatient programs consist of individual and group therapy, as well as family education. Group counseling is offered in a variety of courses, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), relapse prevention, and independent living skills.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Our treatment team includes medical staff, a psychiatrist, chemical dependency counselors, social workers, and mental health counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Our boys’ residential facility has 16 beds. Meals are prepared by staff, who strive to accommodate dietary needs with a physician’s note. Recreational activities such as CrossFit, basketball, and adventure programs are offered.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

In a poll conducted by Best-rehabs.com, one alum, M.C., highly recommends our facility, giving it a five-star rating for staff support, the overall quality of individual and group counseling, and exercise provisions. One five-star rating came from a volunteer and graduate who had a positive work-shadowing experience. Some employees have expressed reservations about management, and one mentioned certain conditions that could potentially affect the quality of treatment.
