TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Dawn Farm begins with an initial process to assess what type of treatment will best meet each client’s needs, goals, and legal responsibilities. Intake assessment can be coordinated and completed over the phone during set hours during the week. Referrals can also be sent from family members, criminal justice programs, and other medical facilities.
Dawn Farm uses a mix of 12-steps principles, evidence-based practices, and counseling practices to address clients’ needs. Treatment programs are designed to last 90 days, but can be extended to cover up to two years with additional services. Community and family involvement are also highly encouraged. Aside from counseling, clients are encouraged to participate in 12-step meetings in the community, and outdoor activities when possible.
Aside from clinical treatments, Dawn Farm uses recreational therapies to help clients progress. The residential facilities are both located on working farms where clients can participate in different farm activities. A variety of educational courses are also available to help clients continue their education. GED services are available and clients are encouraged to continue their education during and after the program.
Discovery groups are for clients who may not yet be identified as addicted to alcohol or drugs. These sessions are motivational in nature, focused on prevention. Recovery groups serve individuals are recognized as dependent on mind-altering substances. Sessions integrate intermediate 12-step concepts and focus on developing plans for ongoing recovery. A third set of group sessions focuses on relapse prevention. Clients discuss their goals and receive support in recognizing situations that may challenge their sobriety.
Aftercare programs are available including up to two years in transitional housing and continued assessment and support services. Clients are encouraged to continue their participation in meetings and support groups within their communities during and after their transition into the community.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The majority of Dawn Farm’s treatment staff has Master-level degrees and extensive experience working with rehab clients. The medical team consists of a Medical Director physician supported by psychiatric nurse practitioners. Qualified farm operators are also on site to facilitate farm operations. The facility is CARF accredited and staff members are licensed accordingly.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Dawn Farm has two residential facilities and a transitional living facility. One is a 64-acre working farm where clients can participate in treatments as well as farm related activities. It is isolated in a rural area which allows clients to remain isolated during treatment. The other facility, Dawn Farm Downtown provides a similar relaxing experience, but does not support the rural isolation of the other facility. The Chapin Street Project serves as the transitional living facility. Housing in Chapin is affordable and allows clients to have a place to stay up to two years while seeking other arrangements.
