ABOUT HARBOR HALL
Located in Petoskey, Mich., Harbor Hall is a nonprofit organization that provides a complete continuum of treatment services for substance abuse. It is one of the few Michigan treatment centers, with only 223 (46.6 percent), that offers programming for co-occurring mental health disorders. Our offerings encompass non-medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient treatment, all designed exclusively for men aged 18 and over. This makes us one of the 219 (45.7 percent) facilities in the state with gender-specific programming. We also provide transitional living support and specialized treatment tracks for women, adolescents, families, and health professionals.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Male clients experiencing withdrawal symptoms typically begin their treatment with supervised detox. Although clients receive 24-hour monitoring and have access to medical personnel on-call, treatment is primarily based on social support. Once stabilized, clients may progress to residential treatment, which typically lasts between 28 and 90 days.
Residential treatment at Harbor Hall is highly structured and personalized based on each client’s individual assessment. Therapy, primarily conducted in a group setting, addresses relapse prevention, decision making, social and life skills, as well as any co-occurring mental health disorders. Our residential treatment program is exclusively available to men.
For those seeking step-down treatment or a more flexible level of care, our center offers outpatient treatment for men, women, and adolescents. This trauma-informed treatment occurs in gender-specific environments and incorporates modalities such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Family counseling is also available on an outpatient basis. Additionally, we offer a 26-week transitional living program for individuals who have completed treatment but can benefit from ongoing support.
