ABOUT SACRED HEART REHABILITATION CENTER
Founded in 1967, Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center provides a wide variety of services to people who are struggling with behavioral health disorders including addiction. Through its 11 Michigan-based locations, the treatment provider offers a full continuum of care. The Bay City location offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults and adolescents.
The mission statement of the organization is as follows: “Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center is dedicated to assisting all people with behavioral health issues, including those with limited means, to improve their quality of life.”
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center’s intensive outpatient program is designed as an alternative to residential care or for people who want to continue treatment** after residential care.
Treatment in the outpatient program includes evaluations and assessments, education classes, relapse prevention workshops, individual therapy, group therapy, interactive group didactics, specialty group, and attending 12-step groups.**
Individual therapy is utilized to treat things such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship problems, loss, addictions, eating disorders, fears, and attention deficit disorders. Individual therapy is offered at least once a week in the intensive outpatient program, and generally lasts 60 minutes.
The facility offers group therapy daily, and each individual is assigned to a specific group. Sessions usually last 90 minutes. Didactic group sessions are also typically 90 minutes, and topics include disease concept, spirituality, coping techniques, motivation, recovery process, thinking errors, denial, relapse prevention, the 12-step process, and self-awareness.
The Bay City location also has Women’s Specialty Program options, which includes gender-specific outpatient programming that incorporates issues common among women in recovery.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
According to the center’s website, “Sacred Heart has assembled a clinical team that has the necessary expertise and clinical skills to treat behavioral health issues.” Indeed, 97.1 percent of substance abuse treatment centers in the state of Michigan have continuing education requirements for staff.
The one individual surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the staff’s level of experience and training four out of five stars.

However, the 166 people who left reviews on the center’s Facebook page, which the facility has the ability to manage, at the time of this writing provided an average 4.6 out of five star rating.[1] Many alumni wrote about how Sacred Heart helped them reach sobriety, how friendly the staff is, and expressed gratitude.
“Talk about saving lives!! This was one of the greatest experiences in my life. Big thank you to all of the staff!! If it wasn’t for them I would still be stuck at the bottom of my hole with a broken shovel and no steps to build my ladder,” an alum wrote in a representative review.
On Google, the facility earned one three-star and one five-star rating to date, with no further written feedback.[2]

In addition, this individual awarded four-star ratings to counseling options, admissions and discharge procedures, and the center’s treatment of co-occurring disorders. When asked if they would recommend the facility to others, this loved one agreed.
“They treated her with kindness and understanding,” the respondent wrote regarding their loved one’s experience. “She came out with such a strong will to stay on the right track. We are so thankful for Sacred Heart.”
