Christian Discipleship Program Emphasizing Sobriety, Accountability, Community Service, Godly Stewardship and Ethics Daily Disciplines and Bible Study
ABOUT U TURN FOR CHRIST NM
As its name suggests, U-Turn for Christ NM is a strongly Christian residential recovery center, providing treatment for men and women aged 18+ who are struggling with substance abuse. One of 14 U-Turn for Christ facilities around the US — there are also locations in, for example, California, South Carolina, Tennessee, and New Jersey as well as around the world — U-Turn for Christ NM is located in a quiet residential area of the South Valley neighborhood on the southern outskirts of Albuquerque.
U Turn for Christ does not offer detox services; new clients must have been sober for 24 hours before admission. This facility accepts court referrals.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The program is split into two phases: Phase One lasts two months and Phase Two, six months, for a total program duration of eight months.
The facility’s website indicates that the program is based entirely on the Bible, focusing on establishing or strengthening a relationship with Jesus. “Jesus is the only way to true freedom from the bondage of the sin of addiction,” the center’s materials state; the facility’s website does not detail any provisions for counseling or therapy, though clients do participate in work therapy in addition to Bible study.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Visitors are welcome on Sunday afternoons, following an initial 12-day probationary period. Visitation is restricted to immediate family: spouses are welcome, but boyfriends and girlfriends are not. In addition, visitors and residents alike must abide by a strict dress code that includes restrictions on secular logos, short and tight clothing, and pants that sag.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Of the three reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com to date, two were positive and one was negative. Both of the positive reviewers stressed that in their experience the program’s strength was its Christianity: “No better way to leave the SIN of addiction but to put your faith in a SAVIOR!!!!” Rob wrote in a particularly enthusiastic review. “Also kept very busy and had lots of bible study and community Involvement,” Diego added, while also praising the center’s food.
“Food is all awful,” Damien wrote, vehemently disagreeing with Diego. “Force God down your throat. Say addiction is absolutely NOT a disease,” Damien added, while also complaining about cold rooms. However, Damien also noted that he had remained sober since treatment. “Everyone who chooses to come into ‘UTurn For CHRIST’ knows it is a ‘Christian’ program,” the facility wrote in response to Damien’s comment.
At the time of this writing, secondary sites yielded minimal review coverage: a single five-star rating with no commentary, left by M.G. on Facebook.[1]
FINANCING
Treatment costs $500 per month, and there is a minimum two-month commitment, equating to a $1,000 fee payable on admission. The center accepts cashiers checks, money orders, and cash.
