Life Healing Center provides comprehensive residential addiction treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse and process addiction in New Mexico. Group, family, and individual therapy are provided alongside onsite and community-based 12-Step meetings. Holistic treatments such as yoga, equine-assisted therapy, acupuncture, and massage are provided as well. Transportation to a premier local fitness facility is provided free of charge.

ABOUT LIFE HEALING CENTER

Life Healing Center in Santa Fe, N.M., provides residential treatment for adult men and women older than 18. The center is known for its treatment for substance abuse, mental health disorders, co-dependency, and co-occurring disorders. Supervised medically-managed detoxification is offered on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Life Healing Center blends evidence-based and holistic treatment methods, including 12-Steps and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Three treatment tracks are available: the “Empowerment Program” for adults with mood and mental health conditions, the “Hope Program” for substance abuse issues, and the “Serenity Program” for survivors of trauma and those with co-occurring disorders.

Clients participate in group, family, and individual therapy, and 12-Step meetings. Holistic programming includes art therapy, equine therapy, massage, acupuncture, and psychodrama, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Continuing care options are available as needed.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Life Healing Center includes board-certified psychiatrists, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, contracted ancillary service providers, a medical director, yoga and meditation instructors, and a Native American Shaman.

Life Healing Center, set in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, is a 39-bed ranch-style home featuring shared bedrooms, a dining hall, an outdoor porch, and a fire pit.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni surveyed by Best-rehabs.com are mostly positive. “Facility truly cares about patient feedback and makes adjustments for individualized care,” wrote B.J.H. The reviewer called the campus “tranquil and serene” and awarded perfect five-star ratings for treatment effectiveness, accommodations, amenities, and meal quality.

Oscar complemented trauma work and gave perfect five-star ratings to all 15 evaluated categories. “A great place for trauma work. It is not just for addiction. If you suffer from depression, sexual issues or suicidal thoughts then this is a great place for you.” Oscar commented that clients should ask for extra therapy if they need it.

One former client, J.M.R. would not recommend the facility and was dissatisfied with treatment. They wrote: “Terrible lack of professionalism. Find a place that treats you humane.”

Thirty-two reviewers on Google were torn, with most reviewers distributing one- or five-star ratings. For example, five-star reviewer Angie wrote: “I loved the Life Healing Center. ALL of the staff is amazing and caring.” Yet one-star reviewer Erin added: “This place had poor management, everybody did the bare minimum, and problems were not addressed.” [1]

No loved ones have been surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at this time of writing. Six reviewers gave an average three stars for Life Healing Center on Yelp. “Their care is top notch,” wrote H.V., “Services are diverse and staff is great at communication with the patient’s primary providers at home… I highly recommend them and I am VERY picky with treatment programs!” [2]

WHAT STAFF SAY

Though no staff members have responded to a Best-rehabs.com poll to date, four individuals gave an average of four out of five stars on Indeed. “Many good therapists helping trauma resolution,” wrote one anonymous reviewer. “Unfortunately, corporate interests squash real holistic treatment occurring.” Two former employees noted high turnover, but an overall good experience with team members. Life Healing Center accepts most insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Beacon Health Options, Galaxy Health Network, and more. Treatment costs vary and staff will work with clients to access insurance benefits.

    • LHC offers many holistic alternatives to 12 step. Equine therapy, acupuncture, meditation. They take residents to the gym every morning if you want to go. They keep you focused and busy. They will also find an outpatient program when you leave.

    • Compassionate therapists, low patient to staff ratio, in a trusting, small process group for most of the day (unlike most treatment centers where you are in general skills groups for the majority of your day) Wide variety of individual adjunctive therapies. Weekly campus outings, many of which to hiking destinations. Small community where patients are able to support one another and form deep friendships. Facility truly cares about patient feedback and makes adjustments for individualized care. Open campus which means not for high risk patients (though they do screen the patient before admission to determine this is an appropriate setting) Smoking is allowed in certain designated areas on campus. Not adequate to handle eating disorders. Long wait for phones. Life Healing Center is one of the few treatment centers with a trauma-based program, where most patients suffer from some form of PTSD. Because of this, the staff are thoroughly trained in trauma-treatment and PTSD symptoms (ie flashbacks, dissociation) The tranquil and serene campus was exactly what was needed to help me begin my journey of healing from my past and begin to create a vision of the future. Two years later, I cannot imagine my life without entering this treatment facility and to be honest I don't know if I would have had one.

    • Great trauma work for traumatic memories. Good therapy for men's sexual issues. Well trained independent therapists who you can use if you ask. You need to ask for extra therapy if you want it. You can get extra emdr and one on one sessions with trauma therapists if you specifically ask for it. It may cost a little more but it is well worth it. A great place for trauma work. It is not just for addiction. If you suffer from depression, sexual issues or suicidal thoughts then this is a great place for you. If you want a straight up place to detox and don't wont to look at any more than your alcoholism than you may be frustrated. They can treat alcoholism, but they go much deeper.

    • This was a great rehab which offered a wide variety of individual/specialized options. It is expensive and only worth the money if the individual is first surrendered and accepts responsibility for the need to change and has the will to do so.
