TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To be admitted, clients begin by calling Vista Taos for a free, confidential phone consultation. Most client stay in residential treatment for an average of four to six weeks. Extended care at the facility’s other location, Casa Feliz, can last from 60 days to 12 months.
The facility’s residential treatment program follows the 12-Step method of recovery. Throughout treatment, clients receive individual therapy once a week and group therapy three to four times a week. Clients also benefit from relapse prevention education, Trauma Informed Care, grief and loss therapy, and mindfulness-based relapse prevention.
Vista Taos offers medically-supervised detoxification with medical staff on call 24/7. The facility also provides unique treatments and therapy including yoga, massage, acupuncture, equine assisted learning, spiritual guidance, and outdoor activities. Families may participate in treatment through a family seminar that occurs every other week.
After completing primary treatment, clients may choose to enter extended care, which is designed to “re-engage their interests and passions in a safe, sober environment.”
Extended care includes program components that are similar to those found in primary treatment, plus work, volunteer, and educational opportunities.

The treatment team at Vista Taos includes a medical doctor, registered nurse, Ph.D. and master’s-level clinicians, two chefs, a massage therapist, and a yoga instructor.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Vista Taos offers 18 beds for adult clients in a Southwestern retreat-like setting. The facility’s shared bedrooms each have a private bathroom and patio. Vista Taos boasts views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and home-made meals are prepared daily by two full-time chefs.

Vista Taos has received four alumni user reviews, most of which were positive, awarding high four and five-star ratings for the metrics of treatment effectiveness, accommodations and amenities, and meals and nutrition. However, on the facility’s Google page, Vista Taos has an average rating of 4.2 out of five stars based upon five reviews.[1] In their commentary, alumni spoke of a “life changing experience,” with many claiming to be doing well and staying sober several years after finishing treatment.

Both anonymous loved ones said they believed treatment was affordable or offered at a fair price. They gave the facility perfect five-star ratings for cleanliness and for exercise options. Additionally, they found the staff’s level of training and experience to be high, and offers specifici praise to the counselors. “Awesome staff: counselors, cooks, RAs, grounds keepers,” one loved one wrote. The other added additional commentary, “Vista Taos works with each patient individually as well as as with the family as a whole.”
