ABOUT U TURN FOR CHRIST NM

As its name suggests, U-Turn for Christ NM is a strongly Christian residential recovery center, providing treatment for men and women aged 18+ who are struggling with substance abuse. One of 14 U-Turn for Christ facilities around the US — there are also locations in, for example, California, South Carolina, Tennessee, and New Jersey as well as around the world — U-Turn for Christ NM is located in a quiet residential area of the South Valley neighborhood on the southern outskirts of Albuquerque.

U Turn for Christ does not offer detox services; new clients must have been sober for 24 hours before admission. This facility accepts court referrals.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The program is split into two phases: Phase One lasts two months and Phase Two, six months, for a total program duration of eight months.

The facility’s website indicates that the program is based entirely on the Bible, focusing on establishing or strengthening a relationship with Jesus. “Jesus is the only way to true freedom from the bondage of the sin of addiction,” the center’s materials state; the facility’s website does not detail any provisions for counseling or therapy, though clients do participate in work therapy in addition to Bible study.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Visitors are welcome on Sunday afternoons, following an initial 12-day probationary period. Visitation is restricted to immediate family: spouses are welcome, but boyfriends and girlfriends are not. In addition, visitors and residents alike must abide by a strict dress code that includes restrictions on secular logos, short and tight clothing, and pants that sag.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Of the three reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com to date, two were positive and one was negative. Both of the positive reviewers stressed that in their experience the program’s strength was its Christianity: “No better way to leave the SIN of addiction but to put your faith in a SAVIOR!!!!” Rob wrote in a particularly enthusiastic review. “Also kept very busy and had lots of bible study and community Involvement,” Diego added, while also praising the center’s food.

“Food is all awful,” Damien wrote, vehemently disagreeing with Diego. “Force God down your throat. Say addiction is absolutely NOT a disease,” Damien added, while also complaining about cold rooms. However, Damien also noted that he had remained sober since treatment. “Everyone who chooses to come into ‘UTurn For CHRIST’ knows it is a ‘Christian’ program,” the facility wrote in response to Damien’s comment.

At the time of this writing, secondary sites yielded minimal review coverage: a single five-star rating with no commentary, left by M.G. on Facebook.[1]

FINANCING

Treatment costs $500 per month, and there is a minimum two-month commitment, equating to a $1,000 fee payable on admission. The center accepts cashiers checks, money orders, and cash.

  • I had family members in and out of rehabs of one sort or another for years. until U Turn there was absolutely no lasting success. I am very grateful for the program in it's entirety and the dedicated staff that unselfishly and enthusiastically have dedicated their lives to being a help to others. Alcohol and drug addiction is a bigger problem then most understand and it is my opinion that it can not be overcome without realizing how precious each and everyone is to God. U Turn is a great place to start.

  • For nearly 5 years we've seen changed lives come from U-turn New Mexico. We wholeheartedly support U-turn and their Godly principals that change lives. We stand behind the people who have devoted their lives to seeing people set free from addictions. We thank God for their dedication and we will work with them at every opportunity. This is a ROCK solid program and we recommend it without any hesitation.
U'Turn for Christ is a highly structured environment geared to teach us to take the focus off of ourselves and put it onto others but ultimately onto Jesus Christ our Lord and savoir. This program saved my life, as it pulled me from the darkness and taught me how to trust again. Its given me hope and has given me the courage to continue, using his strength and not my own. The structure of this program creates trust, and promotes forgiveness as it teaches us how to live with godly esteem. Remaining humble and realizing that we need help is the key in recognizing that life is not about us and that Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. Thanks to U-Turn for Christ I now have a loving, close relationship with Jesus Christ and a beautiful hope for a future and a better life.

  • Force God down your throat. Say addiction is absolutely NOT a disease. Makes promises on working with you then goes back on their word, not just for little things but HUGE things. Food is all awful, and donated from albuquerque rescue mission. heater in add on to house is broken, so my friend that was in the back had a room that was so cold (with a portable heater on) despite getting 1000 dollars a person, plus donations, plus the pay thry got for the free labor they require from you. Any time something is questioned you are giving writing essays about verses that speak about God appointing leaders and doing as your told by them. Last but not least. Finished program, still sober, so some effrctiveness! However I'm only sober because I don't ever want to go through such terrible living conditions again. I ate better in jail.
