ABOUT BRIDGE BACK TO LIFE

Bridge Back to Life operates five locations throughout N.Y.C. and provides intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and counseling services for adults and adolescents struggling with chemical dependency, as well as co-occurring mental health disorders. If necessary, the facility also offers medication-assisted, ambulatory detoxification (Suboxone, Vivitrol).

In addition, the facility provides specialized program tracks for impaired professionals, the LGBTQ community, and DWI offenders. Programming is also available in Spanish, Russian, and Japanese.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon intake, clients undergo an initial diagnostic evaluation to determine the individual’s clinical needs. While specialized program tracks may differ in their focus, all treatment programs utilize evidence-based treatment methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI).

Utilizing these modalities, clients participate in a regular schedule of group and individual therapy sessions to help clients identify and modify destructive thinking and behavior patterns. If appropriate, family therapy may also be encouraged. In addition, clients attend psycho-education classes, which may focus on coping skills, relapse prevention, trigger avoidance, and other topics to help clients maintain sobriety.

Bridge Back to Life also emphasizes 12-step facilitation as an important aspect of programming. Clients may be required to attend 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and perform associated “step-work.” The facility also holds anger management classes, gender-specific sessions, women of trauma groups, domestic violence, and other specialized sessions to individualize its treatment.

Ongoing medication management and psychiatric evaluations are offered to clients struggling with co-occurring disorders. The facility may also hold specialized counseling sessions and educational classes for clients struggling with co-occurring mental health concerns.

On Yelp, two alumni offered very polarizing opinions of the Staten Island location[1]. Awarding the facility a four- out of five-star rating, Shari wrote: “Follow their sometimes strict instructions and you too can have the clarity I now have.” However, giving the facility a one-star rating, alum Safet wrote: “Place is a rip off.”
