ABOUT PHOENIX HOUSE EAST HAMPTON OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Located in the picturesque community of East Hampton, N.Y., Phoenix House East Hampton provides outpatient-based treatment services for adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health difficulties. Part of Phoenix House’s nationwide network of treatment facilities, the East Hampton location also offers a specialized treatment program for DUI offenders who do not require long-term treatment.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment, clients participate in an initial substance abuse assessment to identify individual needs and any co-occurring mental health concerns. Once specific issues are identified, Phoenix House’s core programming utilizes evidence-based treatment techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed therapy, to help clients recognize and modify the link between irrational thinking and addictive behavior. The East Hampton location offers both an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and traditional outpatient program.
According to the facility’s website, Phoenix House’s East Hampton outpatient programs are appropriate for individuals who do not require residential treatment, as well as individuals who may utilize the outpatient program as a “step-down” aftercare program following residential treatment. Outpatient programs involve group counseling sessions and sober recreational activities, which may include music therapy, yoga sessions, guided meditation, and sports activities. Clients with co-occurring mental health concerns may also meet with a psychiatrist for ongoing medication management.
Typically, Phoenix House treatment programs also incorporate the 12-step model of recovery. Clients may be encouraged to attend 12-step meetings within the community and perform associated “step-work” during the outpatient program. To include loved ones into the recovery process, Phoenix House of East Hampton offers a Celebrating Families! Program, which is a 16-week curriculum designed to improve communication skills, educate loved ones on addiction, and provide support. To accommodate family member schedules, Celebrating Families! Program is held in the evenings with flexible hours.
In addition to its core programs, the East Hampton location offers a specialized program for DUI offenders, which includes driver education and intervention programs. According to the facility’s website, the DUI program utilizes educational, cognitive behavioral approaches to improve self-awareness and decision-making. As a nationally accredited DUI program, treatment may satisfy court-mandated requirements for license reinstatement.
