ABOUT SAMARITAN DAYTOP VILLAGE — JAMAICA OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM
For over 50 years, Samaritan Daytop Village has been providing health and human services, including substance abuse and homeless services, through 40 facilities in New York City’s five boroughs and beyond, including eight separate outpatient centers. It is a product of a merger between Daytop Village and Samaritan Village.
The Jamaica, N.Y., facility, conveniently located off the F and E subway lines and a few blocks from a train station, offers outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Some clients are court-ordered to attend.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Each client completes an initial intake interview to discuss motivation for treatment and determine the best program placement, as well as develop an individualized treatment plan.
Samaritan Daytop Village prides itself on using evidence-based methods, and the Jamaica Outpatient Treatment Program is built on individual counseling and group therapy. Some groups are gender-specific while others are trauma-focused, and therapy sessions utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and co-occurring disorder therapy. Additional group topics include anger and stress management and problem solving skills.
Other outpatient services provided include social work services, employment assistance, parenting workshops, and health education. Clients can also make use of the facility’s on-site childcare and receive aftercare services.
