ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER MEDICAL CENTER – STRONG RECOVERY
The University of Rochester Medical Center – Strong Recovery is an outpatient center located in Rochester, N.Y. Our center provides services to adults with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. Strong Recovery is a branch of the University of Rochester Medical Center and operates under the management of Strong Memorial Hospital.
In addition to our general services, we offer a specialized program called Sobriedad Fuerte for Spanish-speaking adults, as well as medication-assisted therapy for individuals struggling with opioid addiction.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Strong Recovery Center offers outpatient care for individuals 18 years and older. If psychiatric inpatient services are required, clients may be referred to our hospital’s inpatient unit.
Our treatment approach includes medication-assisted therapy for clients dealing with opioid addiction and other substance abuse disorders. Our staff may administer medications such as methadone, buprenorphine, and Naltrexone, which is a monthly Vivitrol injection.
Clients will also participate in intensive group and individual therapy sessions. We prioritize family involvement and provide family services, including therapy sessions and support groups. Aftercare services are available as well.
Additionally, we offer a gender-specific program for women recently released from Monroe County Jail or New York State Prison. This program includes counseling sessions, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team at Strong Recovery Center consists of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, board-certified physicians, certified social workers, licensed mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselors.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Based on feedback from three loved ones, Strong Recovery Center received mixed reviews. Two individuals expressed positive experiences and recommended the center, while one individual provided negative ratings. The majority of reviewers gave four out of five stars for treatment of co-occurring disorders, counseling options, family participation, and staff expertise. However, one reviewer gave one-star ratings for 11 out of 15 evaluated categories. All reviewers agreed that the facility excelled in meals and nutrition.
Staff members were consistently praised as a strength of the center. One anonymous loved one wrote, “Friendly staff, really make one feel like they understand you.” However, one individual mentioned a weakness in the lengthy intake process, and another felt that the center did not effectively provide tools for reintegration into regular life.

Strong Memorial Hospital accepts most private insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. Financial assistance may be available.
