ABOUT NORTHPOINTE COUNCIL, INC.

Founded in 1970 and located in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Northpointe Council, Inc. is a non-profit that operates an outpatient treatment facility and a residential crisis center for people struggling with substance abuse. Northpointe Council also operates a treatment facility in Lockport, N.Y.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Northpointe Council’s website, the Chemical Dependency Crisis Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The center is designed for people experiencing problems caused by substance use.

The crisis center offers non-medical detox along with a sober environment where residents can safely start the process of recovery.

The outpatient clinic offers individual, family, and group counseling options. Separate programs are available for special populations, such as women, native Americans, people struggling with co-occurring disorders, African Americans, young adults, teenagers, and people in the criminal justice system.

Family and couples counseling services are available for people who are affected by others using drugs or alcohol. The treatment center utilizes Behavioral Couples Therapy (BTC) for couples to learn how to be sober together. BCT treatment includes life skills and communication.

Services are available to people who were referred to treatment by a component of the criminal justice system. The treatment center has a Methadone Maintenance treatment program. Methadone is suppose to help clients stop using heroin and other opiate-based drugs without experiencing painful withdrawal symptoms.

Northpointe Council also offers prevention programs, including drinking driving programs, employee assistance programs, and prevention education.

Northpointe Council’s website indicates the treatment team includes nurses and counselors. The lone alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility’s website notes Northpointe Council’s Chemical Dependency Crisis Center can accommodate up to 17 residents. The only alum questioned by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave four out of five stars for accommodations and amenities.

The one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback. The anonymous alum gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and when asked if they would recommend Northpointe Council.

The alum gave five stars in almost every category including counseling options and family participation. The alum noted the counselors were a strength of the treatment center. “The counselors treat you as a human being and are supportive,” the alum wrote. “They truley know when they are talking about and Want to help you.”
