ABOUT VIP COMMUNITY SERVICES
Founded in 1974, VIP Community Services is a nonprofit social services organization in the Bronx, one of 146 private nonprofits in the state of New York, that’s dedicated to addressing issues of poverty, unemployment, and drug abuse. VIP offers residential and outpatient treatment programs for adult men and women struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted therapy (MAT) and opioid treatment, and transitional housing for women in recovery.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
VIP conducts a comprehensive screening process to determine the most appropriate level of care. Individuals requiring a structured environment to acquire and sustain sobriety may be referred for intensive, gender-specific residential treatment.
Residential treatment includes group and individual therapy sessions to address the underlying issues contributing to their addictive behaviors. Medications like methadone and Suboxone may also be utilized to alleviate the discomfort of opioid withdrawal and help curb cravings.
Programming is designed to also help clients develop their sense of self-sufficiency. To achieve this goal, VIP emphasizes educational and vocational planning as a crucial component of treatment and offers referrals to community resources to assist in successful community re-entry. Available as a “step-down” aftercare service, outpatient treatment consists of counseling sessions, parenting classes, educational and vocational services, and follow-up care.
VIP also offers a women’s-only outpatient track for those affected by trauma, as well as a homeless shelter for women.
