Lake Area Recovery Center, located in Ashtabula, Ohio, offers outpatient substance abuse treatment to adolescents and both outpatient and residential treatment to adults. To be admitted, clients begin by calling Lake Area Recovery Center. The facility offers intake hours at scheduled times on Mondays and Wednesdays. To be eligible for admission, clients must be “physically self-sufficient and able to be involved in a confrontive group process.”

Most adult clients remain in the residential treatment program, called Turning Point, for between 60 and 120 days. The adult intensive outpatient program, called Stepstones, meets for 23 weeks and offers both morning and evening sessions. Lake Area Recovery Center’s adolescent program is called Trails, and lasts for four weeks.

The facility’s treatment program follows the 12-Step method of recovery. Throughout treatment, clients receive group therapy, assessments, crisis management, emergency services, codependency assessments and treatment, and inmate services.

Families are included in the adolescent treatment program through weekly family sessions, and Lake Area Recovery Center also offers intervention training for concerned loved ones. Lake Area Recovery Center provides unique consideration to pregnant women who would like residential care, and allows newborns to stay in residence at Turning Point with their mothers until they have successfully completed treatment.

The CHOICES program for perpetrators of domestic violence usually involves six to twelve adults who have been referred by the court system, and meets weekly for 12 weeks. Choices provides participants with education and information to help them cope with problems that lead to violence.
