Cedar Hills Hospital

Cedar Hills Hospital Portland Oregon

Welcome to Cedar Hills Hospital, where we prioritize the importance of healing both the mind and the body. We understand the complexities of life and the potential for psychiatric distress, substance use/abuse, and emotional imbalances. Our mission is to provide assistance in overcoming these challenges. Our welcoming and non-judgmental environment is dedicated to helping adults regain control of their lives and recover from mental illness, drug addiction, and alcoholism.

About Cedar Hills Hospital

Cedar Hills Hospital is situated just six miles west of downtown Portland and is a privately-owned facility. We offer a comprehensive range of treatment options for adults aged 18 and older who are struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. We have on-site facilities for medical detoxification when required. Our services cover areas such as substance abuse, mental health, pain management, and co-occurring disorders. We provide specialized programs for women and military personnel. Additionally, clients have the opportunity to enroll in intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs. Aftercare services are available for clients who have successfully completed our programs.

Treatment & Assessment

Cedar Hills Hospital assesses all clients in order to determine their individual needs. We employ assessment specialists who collaborate with clients to determine the best course of treatment. Our admissions staff verifies insurance coverage prior to scheduling appointments to ensure full transparency with regards to covered services. If our facility is unable to meet a client’s specific needs, we provide referrals to alternative treatment facilities.

Our residential program is tailored to clients experiencing moderate to severe chemical dependency and mental health symptoms. Our treatment protocols are based on evidence-based principles and include group therapy and medication management. Individual therapy is provided based on each client’s specific needs.

We also offer a residential behavioral pain management program for individuals struggling with chronic pain and/or substance abuse. This program focuses on teaching new coping skills and takes a holistic approach, combining group therapy with medication management.

Specialized programs for women and military veterans are available as well. The residential military program is designed to help service members process trauma and address addiction issues. Our residential women’s program prioritizes creating a safe atmosphere for women who have a history of trauma. All of our residential programs incorporate holistic therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and yoga to enhance the healing process.

We provide outpatient treatment through our partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs. Both programs offer intensive group therapy and medication management. We have separate PHP treatment tracks available for mental health and substance abuse, as well as a specialized program for women.

Our IOP programs include mental health, substance abuse, behavioral pain management, co-occurring disorders, and dedicated tracks for women and impaired professionals. We also offer aftercare services, including a weekly hour-long aftercare group for alumni.

Staff Credentials

At Cedar Hills Hospital, we prioritize recruiting staff members with advanced credentials and degrees in their specific medical fields. Our medical and mental health operations are overseen by qualified doctors. Clients will also interact with nurses, certified counselors, and administrative staff throughout their treatment.

Accommodations & Amenities

Photos published on the Cedar Hills Hospital website showcase our modern building, which includes a cafeteria-style dining room and a fitness area. We have designated spaces for group meetings and counseling sessions. Smaller offices are utilized for individual and small group meetings. The facility maintains a professional decor similar to that of a doctor’s office. It is well-maintained and in excellent condition.

What Alumni Say

To date, two alumni have provided feedback to Best-rehabs.com regarding Cedar Hills Hospital. One review was positive and the other negative.

Alum L.R. gave perfect five-star ratings for the level of staff support, cleanliness, and staff training and respect. However, they expressed dissatisfaction with one teacher’s approach to sessions. They stated, “Her idea of session was her hand-outs (on topic) which we would all read aloud, taking turns. A complete waste of everyone’s time.”

Alum Kevin rated treatment effectiveness one out of five stars and accommodations and amenities two out of five stars. They warned against seeking treatment at Cedar Hills Hospital in a crisis mode, emphasizing the facility’s profit-driven nature. They commented, “Treatment is limited to twice daily group therapy sessions and you’re not even required to attend those sessions.”

Cedar Hills Hospital has received both perfect five-out-of-five-star reviews and one-star reviews on Google, with little in between. The facility currently has an average rating of 2.8 out of five stars from 35 reviews. Several reviewers expressed the perception that the facility prioritizes payment collection over client care. For instance, one reviewer named Judy stated, “It was a very pricey non-value added scheme… to see to it that this for-profit institution got the most they could get from my insurance.”

However, some Google reviewers had positive experiences at Cedar Hills Hospital. Alum Ann commended the staff for their compassion, understanding, and tireless efforts to ensure the comfort of all patients, including themselves.

What Friends & Family Say

Reviews from loved ones varied from terrible to good. Two reviewers rated the level and quality of family involvement with four out of five stars or higher. Other reviewers praised the staff for being understanding, patient, and caring.

Holistic offerings received two out of five stars or lower, which may explain one reviewer’s comment that their husband found the treatment helpful but got bored.

Financing

Cedar Hills Hospital does not accept Medicaid, but we do accept Medicare, Tricare, and several private insurance plans. Self-payment options are available on a case-by-case basis.

Cedar Hills Hospital Reviews

I have been to Cedar Hills hospital several times and have had received nothing but respect, care and they were attentive to ALL my needs and offered even more. I cannot say enough good things about this treatment center as I've needed different levels of care from detox to full on 30 day treatment (even when it's been just to stay away from my environment for sometime before I was released. I've also had recommendations from them to a longer treatment type setting and have taken advantage of their 90 day outpatient treatment, dual diagnosis behavioral treatment, addiction has lead me to places I thought I'd never go but have, ie: suicide attempts. They've been the full deal for me and as time goes on I have relapsed less frequently and they have made me want to live again and to be responsible and own my part of my own life. They've helped with becoming a friend's among friends, a worker among workers and a family member among family members. I have received massive information and resources from this hospital while inpatient and upon release and appreciate ALL they do. I'm not easy to deal with upon arriving but by the time we're taking about release and am clear headed to be able to make those follow-up commitments that are necessary for any success I may experience. I'm so very grateful that three never turned me away, made me feel guilty for returning when needed or treated as I was less than them. It has never failed that I end up taking away with me WAY more with me Everytime than I came in with. I have not regretted one time, asking them for help and they have not refused me either. They are very professional and kind and truly care about their patients!! Dont know what you're looking for, but giving the gift of life and another chance to actually LIVE and participate in your own life, is a gift that only so many of us have get the opportunity to receive. Do you want to be right or a chance to be happy? God bless all the staff and volunteers at this organization. Grateful, is what I am!! Thank you ALL for what you do and for being there!!❤️
This place is the worst I've ever come across! Communication with family members is ridiculous! My mom was sent there one the 2nd of January and is already being discharged. She's in a full blow psychosis still. They won't help her get outpatient help, transfer medical or access to her funds (like a case worker). So this place is dropping her off, in FRONT of a hotel in Vancouver. Thats the discharge plan. They called me, told me this then hung up on me. I am 4 1/2 hours away. This is unacceptable!
My family member is currently incarcerated (yes, incarcerated) in this facility. My family member is supposedly there voluntarily, however, a nurse practitioner walked into their room on day one and told them either they could stay "voluntarily"" and get out ""maybe in a day or two
