ABOUT ONTRACK, INC. – GRANTS PASS

OnTrack, Inc. is an Oregon-based organization offering a wide variety of addiction treatment services, including residential and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents, treatment for gambling addiction, DUI education programs, family therapy programs, a healthy babies program, housing for low-income individuals or clients with HIV, and gender-specific residential programs for parents and their children. According to HealthGrove, the facility in Grants Pass offers residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment, and provides medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine or Vivitrol.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the center’s website, OnTrack offers two highly specialized residential programs, both of which allow parents to bring their children with them to treatment. The HOME Program accommodates both parenting and pregnant women, and begins with comprehensive health assessments. Residents are screened for health risks such as HIV and hepatitis C, treated for any minor physical issues, and connected to primary health care providers, dentists, and pediatricians. A staff nurse is in charge of making sure each client attends their scheduled appointments and follows through with doctors’ orders.

Treatments consist of individual and group therapy, along with daily life skills classes that teach clients how to find and maintain employment, manage money, maintain healthy relationships, resolve conflicts, and be more effective parents. Specialized treatment groups for nicotine cessation, exercise programs, and preventative education courses for infectious diseases are also made available as a part of the individualized treatment plan.

Clients are encouraged to continue their education beyond the offerings of the program. Clients are able to participate in GED classes to complete their high school education. Family therapy groups are also provided for family members to participate in the treatment process. Special programming is available for fathers called the DADS program that follows the same methods as the parenting programs. The program also offers assistance in regaining custody of clients’ children.

The two alumni who were polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing left mixed reviews. On average, they gave the center a two- and a three-star rating when asked if they would recommend the Grants Pass facility.

Alum S.K.K. noted that the program had a number of weaknesses including poor nutrition options, cramped housing, and limited time with primary counselors. Nevertheless, wrote they would recommend the facility despite its many drawbacks. “The staff was incredibly well trained [and] classes were extraordinary,” the alum wrote.

Alum Alice, on the other hand, wrote that she would not recommend the rehab. “There was some great counselors. There a lot of things that they should improve,” she wrote.

Both alumni rated the center’s exercise and leisure provisions, holistic treatment offerings, and visitor policy very lowly with just one out of five stars.

  • Meals & Nutrition
  • Intense education regarding the disease concept, brain training, personal homework, Franklin model. diet of simple carbohydrates aimed at putting 20 pounds on heroin addicts. However, was counterproductive for alcoholics. There was complete lack of balanced vegetables and lean meats. Not enough time with primary counselors. Not enough time put into dual diagnosis care. Very small housing for 10 to 11 people. Bathroom were inadequate, in terms of accommodating morning hygiene. I highly recommend this facility, despite its many drawbacks. Staff was incredibly well trained, classes were extraordinary.
