Gateway Rehab provides a full continuum of addiction treatment through its 18 facilities in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Gateway Rehab offers detoxification, intensive outpatient programs, inpatient care, and sober living facilities including numerous Pittsburgh locations One of four extended care facilities run by Gateway Rehab, the Moffett House of Beaver Falls, Pa., provides transitional, sober living for men who have successfully graduated primary treatment.


According to the facility’s website, Gateway Rehab’s housing programs are designed to provide a supportive environment where clients may practice daily recovery skills, and offer a transitional phases for men in early recovery as they re-adjust to daily life.

Although programming in the home may be less intense, residents may continue to receive similar treatment to Gateway’s approach to primary care, particularly in the early stages of residency.

Gateway Rehab’s programming is largely founded on the 12-Steps, and residents may continue to attend 12-step meetings within the community, as well as study fellowship literature and work “the steps.” Residents may also continue to participate in individual and group counseling sessions.

In these settings, Gateway Rehab utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to promote relapse prevention, healthy communication, and increased self-awareness. As a men’s sober living facility, the Moffett House may also address issues common to men in recovery, such as anger management and improving coping skills. It is also one of the 255 (50.8 percent) of all Pennsylvania treatment facilities that offers treatment to individuals with co-occurring disorders.

Many transitional, sober living programs also utilize a phase system, which gives residents more freedom as they progress in their recovery. While early stages may be more structured and treatment-oriented in the Moffett House, final stages may require residents to volunteer within the community, obtain employment, or enroll in school.


GatewayRehab’s website notes Moffett House is supervised by a house manager and support staff. Counseling sessions may be facilitated by licensed professional counselors and peer specialists experienced in the process of recovery. Clients with a dual diagnosis may also have access to a psychiatrists.


GatewayRehab’s website indicates the Moffett House is located within a historic apartment building in downtown Beaver Falls, within walking distance to the services and shops in the area. Clients are required to prepare their own meals and responsible for the general cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. Of the two loved ones polled by at the time of this writing, one loved one cited cleanliness as a strength of the facility.


Although has yet to receive alumni reviews to date, secondary sources revealed one positive opinion of the facility. On Google reviews, the sole alum reviewer gave the facility a perfect five- out of five-star rating.[1] “I learned life skills that have transformed my life in the Moffett house. As of today I have been clean for four years, I am in college, and a productive member of society,” alum Denny wrote.

To date, the two people to leave reviews on Gateway Rehab’s Facebook page, which it has the ability to manage, gave five out of five stars.[2] “2yrs clean in Nov. Bc Gateway helped & gave me a good start ��… Gateway saves lives everyday,” David wrote on Facebook.


The two loved ones polled by had mixed opinions of the facility. While both survey reviewers reported that the staff was well-trained, they felt the facility could improve in other areas, particularly its programming. Out of five stars, both loved ones offered moderate three-star ratings for the facility’s counseling options.

Although giving four stars for the level of family participation, one loved one wrote: “Could offer more patient participation in therapy…”Agreeing, the other loved one gave a two-star rating for the facility’s ability to treat co-occurring disorders and cited “Not enough services” as a facility weakness.


There is currently no information provided on the facility’s website regarding its costs; however, the two loved ones both offered three out of five stars for the facility’s affordability.
