Founded in 1999, Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. is a behavioral healthcare provider that operates over 64 treatment facilities throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina. The facility in Allentown, Pa. offers residential, intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient programs for adults and teens seeking treatment for chemical dependency, mental health disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The admissions process for Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. begins with a needs assessment. Clients participate in an initial substance abuse and psychiatric assessment to individualize treatment and identify any co-occurring disorders. Clients receive an individualized treatment plan and are enrolled in the appropriate programs. Adults and adolescents are treated separately.

Pyramid Healthcare, Inc.’s programming to treat substance abuse and dually diagnosed clients is a combination of evidence-based treatment methods and an immersion into the 12-Step model of recovery. IOP for substance abuse consists of individual and group counseling sessions.

Aside from therapy, clients participate in educational coursework. Clients and their families are also educated on the nature of addiction, trigger avoidance, and relapse prevention. Adolescent programs also focus on improving communication skills and coping with typical challenges associated with adolescence.

Mental health treatment programs consist of psychiatric evaluations, ongoing medication management, group therapy sessions, individual therapy, and family and/or couples counseling. Clients with a dual diagnosis also receive psychiatric evaluations and medication management.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment staff at Pyramid Healthcare includes psychiatrists, substance abuse and mental health counselors, case managers, and counselors who specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and members of the LGBTQ community. The facility is CARF accredited, and the staff is appropriately licensed to maintain the accreditation. The facility also has partnerships and connections with a wide range of organizations in the recovery community.

At the time of this writing, three alumni provided feedback about this facility. Two of the alumni were generally positive, giving ratings generally three stars or greater for most metrics. The one area of agreement between the three alumni was regarding the facility’s affordability, which received a four out of five-star rating from each of them. Holistic offerings was the lowest rated metric on all three alumni surveys.

In their commentary, one alum, C.S., lauded the facility’s group therapy, and wrote, “I was very happy there.” Another alum similarly offered praise for the facility’s group activities, and felt that their “personal experience was eye opening.” The third alum, who gave a negative review, enjoyed the detox program, but found the facility’s cleanliness to be a considerable issue.

  • The facility had a good detox program This facility is a dump. There are mice in the kitchen. You barely get to eat. Honestly aside from detox it should be shut down I simply would strongly advise against anyone going to this facility!
