ABOUT PHOENIX CENTER
Located in the community of Greenville, S.C., Phoenix Center provides a range of specialized treatment services for adults and adolescents struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health issues. Along with outpatient programs for both adults and adolescents, Phoenix Center operates long-term residential programs for pregnant women and young mothers (Serenity Place), as well as a residential program for adolescent males (White Horse Academy). In addition, Phoenix Center operates a 16-bed detoxification unit for adults.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients participate in an initial bio-psycho-social assessment to help clinicians determine a customized treatment plan. Phoenix Center’s treatment programs utilize evidence-based treatment methods to assist clients in acquiring and sustaining sobriety by addressing the underlying causes for their addictive behavior. Clients may transition from higher levels of treatment to less intense programming, determined by the client’s progress.
During treatment, clients participate in one-on-one counseling, group therapy sessions, and family therapy. Along with core programming, clients are highly encouraged to become involved with a 12-step group within the community. Treatment is available on an outpatient and inpatient basis for adults and adolescents.
Serenity Place is designed to treat pregnant women, as well as young mothers with small children. The program involves 50 hours of weekly programming, and the average length of treatment is six months. While mothers participate in treatment, young children also participate in daily activities to accelerate development.
Treating adolescent males (ages 13 to 17), White Horse Academy combines educational classes facilitated by a certified teacher with a schedule of therapeutic activities. During treatment, residents participate in individual, group, and family counseling, music and recreational therapy, and attend sessions on life skills development and anger management.
Additionally, the facility offers community prevention services, typically in the form of classes. These include the facility’s Youth Board and a tobacco cessation program. Phoenix Center also provides specialized programs for DUI offenders.
