ABOUT GIVEBAC ACE CAMP – RETREAT SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM FOR WOMEN

Based in a remote, rural setting 75 miles southeast of Charlotte, N.C., Givebac Ace Camp is a nonprofit that offers residential care for women who are struggling with a substance use disorder. Medical detox is not available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment is offered in 30-, 60-, and 90-day programs.

The program is founded on the 12-step philosophy that “the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel.” The center offers a retreat structured as a therapeutic community, where women can escape the stresses of their daily lives while they recover from addiction. The program emphasizes the 12-Steps, spiritual growth, peer support, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Residents also journal regularly, which, according to the course description, is invaluable in helping them to move past the difficult events that might surface in early recovery.

After treatment, women are advised to move into sober-living facilities in the community.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The facility is monitored 24/7, and the official website notes that medical services are available when necessary, though this is not a medical facility. There’s a certified cognitive behavioral therapist on staff. The four individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the facility an average rating of 4.75 out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The center has all the amenities of a family home: a washer and dryer, satellite TV, internet, and three meals a day. There’s also a fishing pond on the grounds. Residents participate in daily therapeutic activities, such as fishing, nature walks, workouts at the gym, and arts and crafts. The four individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the facility an average rating of 4.75 out of 5 for its cleanliness.

Visitors are welcome, but clients may not go home at any point during their stay, nor may they have smart phones.
