ABOUT RECOVERY HOUSE OF EAST TENNESSEE
Located in the community of Oliver Springs, Tenn., 30 miles west of Knoxville, Recovery House of East Tennessee (RHOET) provides residential treatment for adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as co-occurring mental heath difficulties. The facility also provides on-site detoxification services through medical supervision and medication management that minimize the uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment, clients may first participate in an initial substance abuse and psychiatric assessment to help clinicians determine the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. According to the facility’s website, RHOET utilizes a range of evidence-based treatment methods with a strength-based approach, which builds on the client’s strengths, to help the individual succeed in early and long-term recovery.
During the residential program, clients participate in a structured schedule of group, individual, and family counseling sessions, Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) modalities, these counseling sessions are designed to identify and address the underlying causes that may contribute to addictive behavior, which may include traumatic events, a history of abuse, or other co-occurring mental health concerns. RHOET also facilitates trauma-focused therapy sessions, as well as couples therapy.
Along with therapy, dually diagnosed clients also receive ongoing medication management to minimize psychiatric symptoms. To help clients further process thinking patterns and behaviors, the facility holds educational workshops and may require clients to complete assignments. A family program is also offered to loved ones.
To help clients develop community-based support networks, RHOET incorporates 12-step participation into its overall programming. Clients attend on- and off-site 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and perform early”step-work” throughout the residential program. To promote healthy lifestyle changes, clients go on therapeutic outings into the community and participate in an exercise and nutrition program.
Before clients are discharged from the residential program, clinicians coordinate with clients and their families to create a comprehensive discharge plan.
