ABOUT ENTERHEALTH RANCH

The Enterhealth Ranch is a luxury residential treatment program for individuals struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. It is situated just north of Dallas, Texas in the town of Van Alystyne, and offers on-site medical detox through various methods.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment begins with a comprehensive initial assessment lasting three to seven days, during which staff will develop a personalized treatment plan. This non-12-step, scientifically-based program takes a medical approach to addressing addiction and dual diagnosis.

Residents receive 24-hour supervision and have busy schedules from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Ongoing medical and psychological assessments are conducted, and medication management services are available. In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, the facility offers physical and occupational therapy, life skills coaching, as well as fitness and nutritional planning.

Specific treatments may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), relapse prevention techniques, interventions, couples therapy, and family treatment. Prior to discharge, an aftercare plan is prepared to support the individual’s transition back into society.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team comprises addiction psychiatrists, masters- and PhD-level therapists, and nurses. Two alumni surveyed rated the staff’s level of experience highly.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Official photographs showcase a well-equipped and well-maintained facility. The 43-acre ranch provides 40 beds, each with private rooms and bathrooms. Maid service and chef-prepared meals are provided. Other amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, basketball courts, putting green, volleyball court, yoga, and acupuncture. Three alumni surveyed gave the accommodations an average rating of 4.33 out of five stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews are mixed. One alum praised the facility and its staff, while another recommended the facility’s model. However, even positive reviewers noted the high cost of treatment. One alum expressed concerns about the facility’s standards, while another gave low ratings and criticized the counseling accessibility, group sessions, facilities, and staff behavior.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Reviews from loved ones are also mixed. One family member commended the facility’s multi-faceted and scientific approach, as well as the professionalism of the staff. However, another family member raised concerns about the use of medications and tests, describing the facility as a glorified babysitting service that prioritizes financial gain. Another family member felt that the facility took advantage of their vulnerable state for financial gain.

FINANCING

Pricing information is not available on the facility’s website. The facility will work with out-of-network providers for potential coverage options. Self-pay is also accepted.

  • On 4/7/18, I celebrated my 9th birthday in recovery. I went to three other treatment centers prior to Enterhealth and did not have the skills to cope with my addiction. Enterhealth's approach changed everything for me. I wanted to live again and finally felt worthy of love and happiness. Enterhealth and the loving support of my family saved my life!
Dear Sheila, With great joy we join you in your celebration of 9 years of sobriety! Enterhealth was certainly a part of your renewed health, but you were the one who has done the hard work every day of this nine years. Continue to take care of yourself!

  • Patient last year, treatment has been succesful for 9mo so far. I had some serious issues with one physician and complained. I notice that person is gone now. Overall recommend if the patient has the resources. I have noticed that, in general patients who fail to maintain sobriety want to blame the treatment facility.
Dear Bob, Thanks so much for your review. We are so happy to hear you are doing so well nine months into your recovery. Enterhealth is glad we could be a part of it, but you know that YOUR success comes from inside of YOU. Continue to take good care of yourself and if you ever need anything, just holler. 1.800.388.4601

  • Please beware of entering treatment at Enterhealth. I was inpatient at the Ranch. My therapist led me to believe I was in a safe / talk about anything environment and manipulated me into sharing stories about how my prior using had affected my parenting. As soon as she heard something that she believed fell under her "mandated reporting", she immediately filed it. DO NOT trust anyone there. They do not have your best interest at heart. There are many other reputable rehab facilities with strong ethical history.

  • Do not go to this place! Expensive and they will pit you between family members to try to keep you there. If they know you have money then they will try to keep you there. The management does not care. Only Nursing and Techs work hard, if not for them then this place would crumble. The food is awful. Expect to have cereal bars and rotten fruit for snacks. Clients also hook up and not given consequences, so it becomes disruptive to recovery. Group is good though. Boring on weekends with NO activities. Stinky, old furniture to sit on. Contraband, including drugs are easily smuggled in. All it takes is a phone call to a dealer and they can easily drop off stuff at the gate. No security in place on a ranch. Sometimes psychotic episodes from clients with no security to handle this. Techs are the ones who truly keep this place going. But not enough techs to help out. Medications, particularly Serequel is pushed on the clients. The list of bad goes on and on. Don't waste your valuable time or money. Choose a better place that offers activities and management that have true recovery backgrounds. This ace is owned by a marketing company so you know the commercials are fake. Stay away from Enterhealth please!
Dear A, We are so sorry to hear that your experience at Enterhealth was not what you anticipated. Were you able to discuss your disappointment while in treatment? Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in providing more feedback. Donna 1.800.388.4601
My family member was cared for at Enterhealth for 6 weeks. The 6 weeks he was there he was cared for and treated with the utmost satisfaction. He continues to use what he has learned there to combat daily challenges and life in itself. The doctors and team leaders were all different in personalities, but all had the same goal! The patient and family 100%. The paperwork and schedule that was given to the family members was organized and exact. When leaving your loved one you feel scared, sad and unsure but the staff at Enterhealth made you feel very comfortable and hopeful. When you called to check in or talk with your loved one, the staff was extremely welcoming and cheerful. I will always be thankful to this facility and their staff. The best place around.
Dear Na, We greatly appreciate this feedback about your loved one's care at Enterhealth Ranch. As you mentioned, leaving someone for treatment where you cannot visit daily is truly difficult and giving us your trust to provide the wraparound care needed, is what made the difference in their recovery while with us. We are always here for you, so never hesitate to call. Donna

  • I am a licensed chemical dependency counselor and refer to Enterhealth. Although there are many facilities and options in the area, if someone has means my first referral is Enterhealth because I know they will get the most thorough and comprehensive medical care in a beautiful setting. I often see people go to treatment, and the underlying cause or mental health aspect is neglected. At Enterhealth there is a multidisciplinary approach and completely unique treatment plan. I've had clients come back with a better understanding of their mental health, solid psychiatric regimen and often times EMDR and thorough trauma treatment.
Dear Ashley K, Thanks for letting us know that Enterhealth's comprehensive approach to addiction treatment has helped your clients; not only their addiction, but they have been able to receive treatment for their mental health as well. We appreciate you taking the time to express these thoughts. Donna

  • Enterhealth Ranch (ER) is not an effective or affordable treatment facility for substance abuse... I wonder why it doesn't work when you tell a drug addict something to the effect in Oh those 12 step programs don't work. What you need is more drugs...here pay extra for these 'science-based' drugs from us, you know, to help you get off, um drugs. They will fix your brain! Oh and even though you say you are not depressed we KNOW you really are, so here are more drugs for you to also take. And since you can't sleep, here is a drug for that Additionally, while our son was there several staff members were fired for unprofessional behavior. Their "Science-based" approach did not work. Our Enterhealth Ranch experience was like flushing $18,000 down the toilet. Sadly, we paid extra to have ER file our insurance for us in addition to the money we had to pay up front and in full. After 8 months, numerous calls, numerous rounds of emails we still have not seen a dime... and of course it is all the insurance company's fault. But they pressured us to pay them extra to handle the insurance for us (so we wouldn't have to worry about it in this tough time). I feel bitter every time I see their commercial and I think "I wonder how many 30 second spots our $18,000 paid for." To rub salt in the wound, they even charged us extra to eat lunch on family day... and it was inedible. Wow. Just wow. We turned to Enterhealth Ranch in desperation. It was a mistake made in the heat of the moment. There are better, more effective treatment facilities where actual recovery can be achieved. And who also happen to take insurance like a normal, professional treatment provider should.
Dear PF, We are very sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. Since we specialize in dual diagnosis treatment at Enterhealth, the vast majority of our patients do require psychiatric medications to help treat underlying causes of their addiction at the same time they are in therapy. Were you able to discuss your feelings prior to leaving the Ranch? If you would like to have a further discussion, please feel free to contact me at dsnider@enterhealth.com. Please remember that no attempt at helping your son is ever wasted. Continue to care for him and don't neglect your own health; he needs you to be there for him. Donna
    Great place. Highly recommended.
Dear James D, It's great to hear that you were satisfied with your treatment at Enterhealth! We greatly appreciate your feedback and are happy that you would recommend us to others in need. Take care of yourself! Donna

  • AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! This place is an absolute joke. If you have a loved one in need, please look elsewhere for a real program that can help. The only concern they have is taking your money.... Access to counselors is limited and group sessions are ineffective. Facilities are worn down, unclean, and the food is awful. Staff is rude and do not treat patients with confidentiality.

  • My adult son just celebrated 15 months of sobriety after three weeks of inpatient rehab and two months of outpatient. rehab at Enterhealth. The combination of meds for depression and anxiety which he still takes, individual and group therapy, and the education about addiction and coping skills worked for him. I notice their website now has a section on payment options so they may have corrected the problem we had. I felt that their business practices led one to believe that insurance would cover most of the cost and it hardly covered anything. We didn't research it at the time because we were in a crisis and emotionally vulnerable which I felt in retrospect that Enterhealth personnel took advantage of . Still, the program worked for my son and he is still committed to his sobriety (alcohol was his issue). Our family is grateful that when our son was ready to make a change that HE found Enterhealth and conscientiously took advantage of everything Enterhealth offered both at the Ranch and outpatient therapy.

  • Life is hard and people need help they don't need to go to a ranch. They whole thing is a is a lie. I didn't get a clean room. It is a waste of money. If they saved me I would not be writing this. Work with you family and your friends. You don't need to listen to everyone stories. I'm a good person.

  • Strengths: Tailored to the individual, not exclusively 12 step, science based. Weaknesses: Expensive, limited internet access. I think more facilities should follow this model, in particular offering SMART recovery meetings in addition to AA in the evenings.
Dear JK, We appreciate your review. That you felt your treatment was tailored for you is great news since we try very hard to treat each patient in the manner that offer them the best chance at a successful recovery. Because of this individualization our prices are more than other treatment centers, but we believe you do get what you pay for. Sorry about the internet access; being located on a ranch sometimes inhibits our service. Take care of yourself and keep in touch, please! Donna

  • DO NOT GO HERE!!! I was admitted and only stayed 72 hours(paid for 14 days) as I was never seen by a Dr. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE as this facility is a fraud!
Dear Julianne, We are very sorry that you chose not to stay at Enterhealth for your addiction treatment. If you would like to discuss this further, please call us at 800.388.4601. Thank you, Donna
45 days inpatient, over five months IOP and individual therapy, and ... Life's no better.
Dear Part, We are so sorry that your life is no better after your addiction treatment. Does this mean that you are not in active recovery or does it mean there are still issues in your life that are keeping you from feeling the satisfaction you desire in your life? If you would like to discuss this more, please give us a call!

  • Enterhealth was the best thing that ever happened to me. My therapist worked hard and diligently every day. The staff is beyond friendly and hard working. They always go out of their way to help you, day or night, 24/7. Every one of the staff, from the nurses and techs to the therapists always treat you kindly. I gained more knowledge than I ever thought I would. I met so many wonderful people and now have cultivated many amazing relationships. The rooms were comfortable and relaxing. If I could stay forever I would, but I am now prepared to face the world because of Enterhealth.
Dear SH, It would be nice to have you with us every day! We are so happy that Enterhealth was the answer for your addiction treatment. For such success it took YOU working twice as hard as the therapists, doctors, nurses and techs. Your desire to be healthy, your interest in reaching out to your peers and your willingness to put in the effort to no longer use -- that is what is needed to recover from addiction. We are so proud of you and count on you continuing to work hard taking care of yourself! Donna

  • I have significant concerns regarding this facility. Specifically they push a treatment that used to be called prometa; they are now calling it GABASYNC. This is not FDA approved and was developed by a junk bond trader. Please seek out information regarding this, addictions magazine has stated this is not a recommended protocol and there is only their testing that says it is effective. ... Positives, nice facility- they say luxury rehab but in the winter most amenities not available. The food is not bad, some friendly staff, and the availability of medication assisted treatment. If you are recovering from opiates this is a beneficial aspect of treatment. As others have said, if you cannot pay you will be discharged. It is a private facility. Negatives, very expensive, full neuropsych testing done (at an additional $2700) while still in detox, again in my humble opinion one cannot distinguish between substance induced and pre existing conditions only 11 days since last use of cannabis. The neuropsychologist acknowledged this but the therapist didn't have a solid understanding of this in my opinion. When I asked for further clarification she said that those were questions for the neuropsychologist....Despite the cost for the neuropsych evaluation several aspects of the report were incorrect... In addition, key tests were incomplete or invalidated. It did not provide a complete picture. Another concern was that everyone seems to be put on seroquel during detox to help regulate sleeping; we were informed of this only after our son had been given seroquel for several days. The research I found indicates that seroquel can actually increase craving and relapse rates in marijuana recovery. Our son was there for marijuana. ... This facility I do not recommend. You are not getting your moneys worth at this facility. It is a glorified babysitting service that uses medication inappropriately and pushes unwarranted treatment for financial gain. I will contact the FDA regarding the use of GABASYNC as it is not shown to be effective by others in the field.
Dear c, While certainly not a review to boast about, we are still appreciative that you have taken the time to express your feelings. If you have not had the opportunity to discuss all of these details with the Enterhealth Ranch staff, please do contact us. Donna

  • I've been to EnterHealth four times (unfortunately) and while they claim to have new age "brain healing" drugs, they didn't work for me. I even tried their $3000 injections. Last time I went there for Detox about 3 months ago, the staff, food and living conditions had deteriorated dramatically! The Light was out in my bathroom, the AC/Heating unit was so loud I couldn't sleep, I could feel the springs from the mattress poking me, and the meds they were giving me didn't help. All the good doctors, nurses and some of the other staff had left, including the Chef! My first meal was given to me with visibly scorched potatoes and was inedible. (They used to have great food). ... I've attended other treatment facilities after which I achieved years of sobriety, but I would definitely not recommend EnterHealth anymore. They are more into trying to promote their services to the wealthy pushing the discovery of "addiction healing drugs" that there is no support for or evidence that they work. Oh, they also over-billed me....
Dear David C, Thanks so much for this very constructive review about your last stay at Enterhealth. We took it to heart and have addressed each and every issue at the Ranch. While we hope you are healthy and never again in need of our services, we assure you our standards are back above par! Take good care of yourself -- Donna

Dear KW, It is such good news that Enterhealth has helped you find your road to addiction recovery. Thanks for the kudos for our staff; it is obvious that you worked as hard as they did, or you wouldn't be where you are right now. Keep taking good care of yourself; you deserve it! Donna

Dear Robert, It is great to hear that taking part in our peer group therapy made a big difference in your treatment at Enterhealth. Not only do you have a chance to share feelings and experiences with each other, but there's always great education going on from our therapists, too. We are so happy that you are doing well! Donna
Enterhealth's approach is multi-faceted and scientific using the latest knowledge in addiction and appropriate therapies. The staff is extremely professional and well-qualified. They seem very effective in equipping patients with the right tools to maintain their sobriety after they leave. My family member has now been sober for more than three years after abusing alcohol for 45 years, and continues to participate in AA for support.
Dear DBD, What great news that the treatment from Enterhealth has helped your loved one become healthy and active in his support group and move beyond those 45 years of alcohol abuse! We know it has made such a difference in your family life as well. Thanks for taking the time to affirm our comprehensive approach to addiction treatment; our staff works very hard to put all of the pieces together in just the right way for each individual patient. Enjoy this wonderful new life! Donna
