ABOUT SHADES OF HOPE

Shades of Hope in Buffalo Gap, Texas, provides residential care and sober living for adult men and women dealing with addictions and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Shades of Hope is one of 91 (18.6 percent) Texas facilities offering short-term residential treatment. The facility also offers short-term specialized residential programs for sex addiction, eating disorders, and trauma.

Detox is not available on-site, but the facility can provide referrals to a local detox center.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at Shades of Hope is rooted in 12-step programming.

The six-day program is presented as an intensive detox from destructive behaviors. The residential 42-day program includes includes psychiatric services as well as holistic programming like meditation, yoga, and nutrition counseling. The fourth or fifth week of residential treatment is a family week.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Shades of Hope employs a board-certified psychiatrist, a physician certified in addiction medicine, and therapists. The medical director is also a family practice physician.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Residents will share bedrooms at the facility. Shades of Hope provides individualized meal plans and accommodates vegetarian, vegan, and other meal requests on a case-by-case basis. The facility does not have a gym but encourages walking and provides yoga sessions.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Best-rehabs.com has not yet received reviews from affiliated alumni of this facility; however, secondary sites yield mixed commentary.

On the center’s Facebook page, which Shades of Hope can manage, the facility earned 4.8 out of five stars based on 58 reviews. Six individuals commenting on the site lauded the life-changing nature of treatment and long-lasting sobriety following care.

On CiteHealth, three of four reviews were negative. Two individuals were not satisfied with care given by the facility while a third reported a physical incident between a client and an employee. The alum providing positive feedback wrote: “This facility is NOT for everyone. It is a tough as nails approach to a multitude of mental health issues. While It worked for me I can see how others will be overwhelmed and put off by it.” [1] [2]

Two loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date gave mostly positive feedback about treatment at Shades of Hope. Both individuals gave five out of five stars for its overall treatment effectiveness and indicated that they’d recommend treatment at the facility. However, one individual gave the facility one out of five stars for its family participation, holistic options, and affordability.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The sole staff member surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at this time of writing provided positive feedback about Shades of Hope. The anonymous staffer gave four out of five stars to seven of 15 evaluated categories including counseling options, holistic options, and the staff’s level of training and experience.

FINANCING

Residential treatment at Shades of Hope costs $700 per day while the six day program costs a total of $3,495, including an $800 non-refundable deposit. Shades of Hope accepts insurance, though specifics are not provided on the facility’s website. The facility does not accept Medicaid or Medicare but does refer individuals with those plans to other organizations. Initial assessments used to determine treatment options are free.
