Cenikor also provides adolescent short-term inpatient treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient care.

ABOUT CENIKOR FOUNDATION

In operation for over 50 years, the nonprofit Cenikor Foundation provides prevention and treatment services for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The facility in Fort Worth, Texas, one of over a dozen centers operated by Cenikor, exclusively treats adults through long-term inpatient and outpatient care. Additional services, including detox, short-term inpatient care, sober living, and treatment for adolescents, are accessible through the other Texas-based Cenikor locations.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the Cenikor Foundation’s website, the long-term inpatient program is intended for individuals who are mentally and physically capable of participating in the program, which, in addition to treating substance abuse, includes components that address education and workforce development.

The center’s treatment model, which includes both peer influence and individual counseling, aims to help participants improve social skills, develop healthy relationships, establish financial stability, and secure steady housing. To be eligible for graduation, clients must have an aftercare plan in place, as well as financial savings.

Outpatient care is tailored to each client’s needs, but most treatment plans include individual, group, and family counseling. All programming is goal-focused and may address topics including anger management, conflict resolution, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, treatment is administered by licensed clinical and medical staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings; however, the eight alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date provided mostly below-average ratings for the facility’s accommodations and amenities.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The seven alumni reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com were mixed. K.B. was the only alum to give the center’s treatment effectiveness five out of five stars, describing the center as a “good place to start over.” J.D. appreciated that the center connected them with housing and noted that they would recommend the facility.

However, the other reviewers were more critical of the facility and its staff. “The staff for the most part are caring and helpful, until you try to contact your family…Pretending the ‘phones don’t work’ when they are clearly receiving calls right in front of you,” alum Dre wrote.

Additionally, two other alumni complained about inadequate time allotted for rest and recovery. “This place was awful. Worked too many hours. No recovery involved,” one anonymous alum wrote. “Makes clients work too long of hours and not enough counseling sessions. It removed me from a bad situation but no chances of rest even on weekend,” another alum added..

External reviews were generally positive. On Google reviews, 11 individuals gave the facility an average rating of 4.4 out of five stars[1]. “Amazing program it changed my life!” Tommy, a representative reviewer, wrote. Loved ones particularly praised the facility on the secondary review site.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

B.S.H., one of the two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com, provided an enthusiastically positive review of the care their daughter received, giving the program’s treatment effectiveness five stars. “The first 15 months she hated everyone, then a glimmer of hope, for she realized she felt good, looked good and acted good.” they wrote.

However, the all loved one gave low one- and two-star ratings for most evaluated metrics, including the level of family participation and the amount of staff support. Opinions sourced from Google reviews disagreed. “My daughter is so much better and happier thanks to cenikor to help her the center of the core of her problem,” one parent wrote on Google reviews.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The sole staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com to date praised the facility, offering perfect five-star ratings for the experience of both mental health and addiction staff. They also gave a five-star rating for the facility’s overall quality of care.

FINANCING

According to its website, Cenikor charges fees based on a sliding scale, and payment plans are available. The center accepts Medicaid and most major insurance plans, including those from Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

  • I graduated from Cenikor: Fort Worth in 2010. It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years. I cleaned my life up after I got out, went on to get a college degree, became a decent person at the end of the day. I credit at least some of that to being sober for the 21 months I was in Cenikor. But I don’t want you to think for a second that Cenikor helped me recover from my addiction. Addiction is a serious psychological problem that is only the surface level symptom of deep, deep emotional trauma and shame. Cenikor’s philosophy is that they bombard you with stressful situations and force you to work ungodly hours at backbreaking or stressful jobs with the aim of toughening your “sober muscles” up. And believe me, it works. I value my sobriety now. But you can’t just treat people with that—they need serious, intensive therapy to work through the emotional distress of recovery, of being incarcerated, of being punished every day for the most minor and human things. Cenikor provides the absolute lowest standard of that. I needed help and I just didn’t get it in that place. I learned how to work and deal with things. But recovery should be about encouragement and love, something I found very little of in that hellish place. If you know you need 21 months of work and sobriety to sober up, then give Cenikor a try, but know that you will not come out of that place without a few more scars and some serious therapy to do when you get out. I would never send anyone I loved here. Ever.

  • Don’t waste your money or your time. They sell you a line of garbage to get you in the door but, once you’re there, you find out it was a bunch of crap and the program is NOTHING like what they tell you it will be. I would have given it zero stars if possible. There are so many better programs out there.
Do not waste your money or time. They do not care about you or your family. They only want the money they can get from you or your family.

  • I wish that the people that are forced to be there by the courts were seperated from those who just want to get well.

  • The staff for the most part are caring and helpful, until you try to contact your family. Then they turn into liars and play games with you. Pretending the "phones don't work" when they are clearly receiving calls right in front of you. Like your a complete idiot and can't see what's going on. Shame on them. That's wrong on so many different levels. That's why I had to leave, I can't be around people that want to isolate you.just like the drugs that your trying to get clean from.
Spent $200 dollars for an updated evaluation. The state won't even accept it since there is so many fields missing that is required. Waste of time, money, and reaching out to the company regarding the lack of "evaluation" along with refund/fixing the problem has taken months with no end in sight.

  • Our youngest daughter was on her way to dying when we found CENIKOR. The first 15 months she hated everyone, then a glimmer of hope, for she realized she felt good, looked good and acted good. She sailed through then and still helps out when she can.. YEA CENIKOR and Praise to GOD for letting her find it
