ABOUT SHORELINE TREATMENT CENTER
Located in the community of Taft, Texas, across the bay from Corpus Christi, Shoreline Treatment Center provides residential treatment for adolescents (ages 13 to 17) to address chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. The facility also offers a special treatment program for pregnant teens. If necessary, medical detoxification services are available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission into the program at Shoreline Treatment Center, clients may undergo an initial evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment approach. If necessary, the facility provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to minimize the discomfort of withdrawal. According to the facility’s website, the detoxification process may last between three and 10 days.
Treatment consists of structured activities, group activities, and counseling to address behavioral issues. Shoreline Treatment Center uses the Encouragement Model of treatment that focuses on accepting responsibility for and addressing key issues to change problem behaviors. 12-step principles are used as well to formulate treatment methods and guide clients through treatments.
Education also makes up a large component of treatment. Clients participate in educational and recreational courses to develop new sober living skills. Educational work consists of classes, lectures, and group activities designed to teach specific skills. These services can be provided in multiple languages if needed. Clients are expected to commit to at least 36 days of treatment.
A specialized program is available for pregnant teens that focuses on providing support and developing life skills related to sober living and parenting. Clients in the program receive 24-hour medical staff coverage and nursing services. Treatment for substance abuse follows the same methods as other programs.
To help ensure clients stay up-to-date with schooling, the facility features an on-site school, the Shoreline Academy, which offers residents TEA-accredited academic instruction. Before a resident completes the residential program, clinicians coordinate with the client and their families to form a comprehensive aftercare plan.
