ABOUT STRONG TOWER MINISTRIES – ADDICTION REHABILITATION
Located in a quiet, semi-rural area on Texas’s Gulf Coast, 40 miles southeast of Houston, Strong Tower Ministries offers long-term, residential, gender-separate treatment for men and women struggling with addiction and other life-controlling problems. Treatment is strongly based on the Christian faith.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The admission process consists of a phone interview.
The program lasts 12 months and is primarily a discipleship-based program, meaning that recovery is based on the development of a personal relationship with Jesus. All residents participate in daily devotions, Bible teachings, worship, and vocational work, and are kept busy with programming between 6.30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Developing a strong work ethic is another central mission of Strong Tower Ministries.
The men’s and women’s programs vary primarily in the kind of vocational work each undertakes: women carry out chores and work around the campus and garden, while men make wooden crosses for sale, and work on-site in the fields of landscaping, gardening, mechanics, carpentry, and more.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The founder of Strong Tower Ministries is a pastor, and the organization’s website indicates that some staff members are themselves in recovery. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff, however, the single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The accommodations are spartan: residents sleep in bunk beds and are required to bring their own bedding, though some may find suitable equipment in a donations closet. The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave Strong Tower Ministries four stars for its accommodations and three stars for its cleanliness, meals/nutrition, and exercise and leisure offerings.
There’s an initial two-week blackout on contact with families. After this, clients may enjoy limited phone calls with their immediate families; visitors are allowed after the first month of treatment.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback. “Very. Faith. Based,” D.P. wrote, adding that they felt the program was antiquated and giving Strong Tower Ministries just one star for its holistic offerings and family participation and two stars for its counseling options and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. However, they also gave the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness.
Secondary sites yielded almost exclusively positive commentary at the time of this writing: a 4.9-star average rating based on 32 reviews left on Google. The only negative review objected to the center’s practice of ejecting those who did not welcome the program’s very heavy faith component. Otherwise, the reviewers repeatedly described the ministry as “amazing” and life-changing. “I had no way out of my drug addiction and tried everything. I was a skeptic, I never truly believed in God… Now my life is totally changed. Strong Tower Ministries is devoted to ensuring the well being of everyone who enters the doors,” B.B. wrote in a representative review.
FINANCING
The fee for treatment is a one-off payment of $1,000 per client, though if any individual is unable to pay this, they’re advised to contact the ministry to speak about alternative arrangements. The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave Strong Tower Ministries four out of five stars for its affordability.
