TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Most clients in the inpatient program remain in treatment for eight to twelve days.
The outpatient program offers group therapy five days a week. Clients who have previously participated in the inpatient program are able to attend outpatient therapy groups as they transition. Both the adult program and the child/adolescent program are four to six weeks long. Individuals between the ages of five and seventeen are eligible to participate in the child/adolescent program.

One alum wrote an overwhelmingly positive review of Sundance Behavioral Healthcare System, and the other alum reported having a very bad experience. The first reviewer gave the facility five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, accommodations and amenities, and meals & nutrition. That alum agreed that the facility is adequately equipped and staffed to treat co-occurring mental health problems and that facility staff are experienced and well-trained. When asked about strengths of the facility, this anonymous alum mentioned the staff. However that same reviewer felt that the facility could improve upon their laundry facilities. The alum also said, “it helped a lot with understanding myself.”

This anonymous alum stated he would not recommend the facility to friends and family considering treatment, would not considering re-entering the facility in the future, and does not believe the treatment he received was worth the cost. He added additional commentary, saying, “I felt isolated…we could not go outside…I felt like I was in a prison.”

The anonymous loved ones gave the facility four and three out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, respectively. They gave four and five stars for accommodations and amenities and meals and nutrition. The first reviewer agreed that there are many counseling options to choose from. He strongly agreed that the facility is adequately equipped and staffed to treat co-occurring conditions and that facility staff are experienced and well-trained. He mentioned the “awesome” staff and “really nice facilities” when asked about strengths of the facility.
The other reviewer, a former spouse of a client, said that she was not sure if her ex-husband benefitted from the program, but that she would recommend it to others. She stated that her loved one had needed a place that offered a longer stay than Sundance, and that she believed it was “not as specific as needed” for her loved one.
