ABOUT NORTHEASTERN COUNSELING CENTER
Established in 1997, Northeastern Counseling Center (NCC) operates three offices in northeastern Utah — in Vernal, Roosevelt, and Duchesne — each of which offers outpatient treatment for children and adults who are struggling with a wide range of behavioral health disorders, including substance use disorder. The Vernal facility is located in the southwest of the city.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
NCC is not wedded to a single approach to treatment; rather, the organization draws from a diverse pool of methodologies to provide each client with the right help for them. Alongside addressing symptoms, the facility aims to increase clients’ self-esteem, improve their relationships, and increase their emotional understanding.
Treatment begins with a two-hour intake appointment, which is used to put together an individualized treatment plan. Counseling is offered in individual and group settings, with groups numbering between four and ten clients. For substance use disorder, NCC also provides referrals to community resources, where necessary. And NCC is able to provide prescriptions for psychiatric medications, for those clients who require them — though methadone is not prescribed at NCC.
In addition to treatment and counseling services, NCC provides DUI programming, following the PRIME for Life protocols, as mandated by the State of Utah.
NCC does not conduct drug tests or urine analysis testing.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Therapy is provided by licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical mental health counselors, and licensed marriage and family therapists. The center also employs a psychiatrist. The single loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave NCC Vernal three out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of NCC Vernal, and secondary sites yielded limited but mostly positive coverage at the time of this writing: a one-star rating and two five-star ratings, all posted on Google. The one-star reviewer expressed disappointment that the facility was not a methadone clinic, but the facility replied to say: “Northeastern Counseling Center has never claimed to be a Methadone clinic.”
“The staff was friendly and helpful… I am better at understanding what motivates me and makes me react to situations in my life today because of the insight you helped me to achieve… My life is greatly improved,” C.B. wrote in the only other rating that contained any accompanying commentary.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The single loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback. “It helped but I feel he needs more,” the anonymous reviewer wrote of their husband’s treatment, indicating that they would like an inpatient program. They gave NCC Vernal four stars for its treatment effectiveness, family participation, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders, three stars for its counseling options, and two stars for its holistic offerings.
FINANCING
NCC offers a sliding fee scale based on family size and income, and accepts most health insurance policies. Potential clients are advised to call their insurer to check the extent of their coverage.
