ABOUT OPTIONS COUNSELING SERVICES, LLC – KOINONIA RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER
Koinonia, a division of Options Counseling Services, provides residential drug and alcohol treatment for adults. All programming is appropriate for those with co-occurring disorders. Treatment is tailored to clients and their families.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Options Counseling Services Koinonia facility’s approach combines 12-step methodologies and evidence-based treatment methodologies. Treatment options are tailored for individuals based on the initial assessment by treatment staff. The treatment program can help clients with a co-occurring mental illness, including depression, anxiety or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
To be admitted to the program, clients must have quick using and get clearance from a qualified medical professional. While efforts are made to make the facility disability friendly, the program can only accept clients that can leave the facility quickly unassisted.
Clients participate in a mix of individual, group, and family therapy. Other treatment components include life skills training, gender-specific groups, and spirituality groups. On-site Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are available on a weekly basis. Some treatment options may include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT). Following treatment, Options Counseling Services’s clients are aligned with outpatient aftercare providers in their home communities.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
According to the facility’s website, Options Counseling Services employs a 24-hour staff that includes dually-credentialed clinicians, physicians, case managers, and counselors. The staff has years of experience working with clients in substance abuse treatment facilities.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Options Counseling Services’s campus is situated on 10 naturally wooded acres in Rhinelander, Wis. It can accommodate 35 clients at a time. New clients are asked to bring 30 days of prescription medication to hand to the facility. Best-rehabs.com survey respondents provided mostly four and five-star ratings for accommodations.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The two alumni who submitted reviews to Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing were mixed.
While one alum gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, meals and nutrition, family participation, and the use of the 12-Steps, and the second respondent rated the level of staff support as two out of five stars and described the rehab as “low quality, impersonal, belittling treatment program.”
On Facebook, the facility earned five out of five stars from eight reviews to date. Many alumni praised the staff and credited the staff members and this treatment program with their sobriety. Alum Amy wrote: “Would recommend to anyone needing help!” Alum Brian wrote: “As a client I experienced an awesome program. I am honored to have been with such great people.”
On Google, the facility earned 3.7 out of five stars from three reviews. Two of the reviews were positive, and one review was negative. The negative review from Jeneane, who indicated that this facility was her “only option” and claimed that the facility had her “arrested and thrown in jail” for a medication she was prescribed.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Four loved ones submitted feedback to Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing. Their feedback indicated a high level of satisfaction, giving four out of five stars or higher for counseling options, family participation and the facility’s cleanliness. The loved ones indicated that they were satisfied with the program’s effectiveness and the level of family interaction, including family seminars, family lunch, and family counseling.
FINANCING
Treatment costs $4,950 per month. The facility does indicate that it accepts many different types of health insurance. Medicaid is not accepted, but the facility recommends American Healthcare Lending as a way of financing treatment. Based on each client payment options, payment may be required at admission.
