A New Beginning provides women with a nurturing and safe space to begin the recovery process, while also giving them the resources necessary to build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety. Situated in northwest Alabama — amidst a vibrant and active recovery community — the drug and alcohol treatment center has restored the lives of many chemically dependent women, empowering them to break free from the vicious cycle of addiction and become productive (and happy!) members of society.

A New Beginning provides long-term residential treatment for women dealing with addiction in Florence, Ala.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

A New Beginnings operates two locations: Helton Court in downtown Florence where clients will live for at least one month and another facility 10 miles outside of Florence, Country Living. Clients will stay at Helton Court for at least the first month of treatment and participate in chores, individual and group counseling, and 12-step meetings.

The program lasts on average for six months to one year. Clients will participate in exercise, yoga classes, and life skill classes. Mothers can take 16-week parenting classes.

A core component of treatment at A New Beginnings is vocational training which teaches clients job skills to make them successful in the job force. The center also provides faith-based treatment.

A New Beginnings has networks with community churches and businesses to keep clients connected to support groups and financial aid.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The executive director of A New Beginnings is a certified addictions professional and an internationally certified alcohol and drug counselor. Two other staff members listed on the facility’s website are certified counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Located within walking distance of Florence’s historic downtown, is A New Beginning’s main location at Helton Court. Clients will reside at Helton Court for at least the first month of treatment and are expected to complete chores. Residents will share rooms equipped with twin beds and dressers and are not allowed to bring cell phones or computers. The facility provides each client with a membership to the YMCA conveniently located across the street.

Following the first month of treatment, clients may reside at Country Living (10 miles outside of Florence) where they will look for employment opportunities. A pool is on-site.

Four loved ones gave Best-rehabs.com positive feedback about treatment at A New Beginning. Most alumni praised faith-based treatment and 12-step programming. Alum Nancy felt that the facility needed to implement more step work but felt that faith-based treatment was a strength of the program. “This faith based program helped me in making the most important decision of my life,” Nancy wrote. Another alum, Connie, gave the center high marks and wrote: “They are all in recovery and they show you how to change not just tell you.”

Two loved ones gave A New Beginning positive reviews with perfect five-star ratings given to the facility’s treatment effectiveness, accommodations, and meals and nutrition.

One parent, J.N.M, reported that their child continued to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and works a full time job following treatment. “We have a relationship like never before,” they wrote. Another anonymous loved one indicated that their uncle stayed sober after treatment at A New Beginning.

FINANCING

A New Beginning is $700 per month and charges a one-time $300 admission fee. Drug screens cost $15 and books for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous can be bought on-site. The facility accepts credit and debit cards but does not include information about insurance on its website.

  • Nice suburban location, organized, good and experienced staff. A bit narrowly focused around the treatment regimen. Had a good experience thus far. Would recommend for alchohol and drug rehab.
