ELK RIVER TREATMENT PROGRAM – HUNTSVILLE, AL

The Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP) is a nationally recognized teen treatment center located on 120 acres in Huntsville, AL. ERTP offers a comprehensive range of treatment options for teenage boys and girls who are dealing with behavioral and mental health issues, substance abuse, obesity and eating disorders, video game addiction, and other serious conditions. Additionally, ERTP provides 24/7 medical care and supervision for medically fragile teens.

TREATMENT AND ASSESSMENT

All programs at Elk River Treatment Program are based on proven, evidence-based treatment models. Upon admission, teens undergo a thorough evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment program for their physical, emotional, behavioral, medical, and educational needs. The core features of the weekly curriculum include individual, group, and family therapy.

Elk River Residential Treatment Program offers on-site medical care for medically fragile teens who may be unable to receive quality treatment elsewhere. Medications are administered at the facility and medication management is overseen by a child and adolescent psychiatrist. The length of stay varies based on individual needs.

For a more flexible treatment option, Elk River Transitions provides a therapeutic environment for teens who have completed the residential program. In this program, teens can continue their education with the assistance of state-certified teachers. Elk River Healthy Lifestyles offers a medically-based weight loss program that includes counseling, fitness, and nutrition education.

Families play a crucial role in the teen’s recovery. Parents can expect weekly updates from their child’s primary therapist and may be able to attend on-site workshops. They are also included in the treatment planning process alongside clinicians, supervisors, counselors, and professional referral sources.
