Action Family Counseling’s Intensive Outpatient Program provides services to those seeking assistance in maintaining sobriety in Bakersfield California.
Through group work and therapy on an outpatient basis, participants are provided individualized treatment plans, drug testing, addiction education, diagnostic assessment, treatment advocacy, and discharge planning.
Clients are also expected to participate in individual and group sessions on a regular basis. Loved ones are encouraged to assume an active role in individuals’ recovery by participating in family therapy sessions.
The program stipulates a minimum of nine hours of weekly participation, including three weekly meetings.

ABOUT ACTION DRUG REHABS – INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
Headquartered in Santa Clarita, Calif., Action Drug Rehabs (also known as Action Family Counseling) provides a continuum of substance abuse treatment services in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Kern Counties. The Bakersfield location offers age-specific intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for adolescents (ages 12 to 17) and adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as co-occurring disorders. Residential care is also available for adults.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment, clients may participate in an initial assessment to ensure IOP offers an appropriate level of care. According to the facility’s website, Action Drug Rehabs’ IOP typically involves programming that includes three-hour sessions held three days per week. IOP generally lasts three months.
To treat its clientele, IOP sessions typically involve process groups, educational workshops, and structured exercises. Along with an introduction to the 12-step model of recovery, sessions also focus on spirituality, relapse prevention, emotional well-being, and forming healthy relationships. Specialized sessions are also available to address co-occurring mental health disorders.
Along with group sessions, clients also meet with a counselor for family therapy once a week. Aftercare plans are developed prior to completing the program, which may include referrals to 12-step meetings, vocational training and educational opportunities, mental health clinics, and other community-based resources to support ongoing recovery.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The Action Drug Rehabs is accredited by the Joint Commission. According to the facility’s website, services are administered by a team of substance abuse counselors and therapists. The organization’s founder achieved sobriety about 40 years ago and has dedicated himself to working with those affected by substance abuse and mental health concerns.
