Inland Valley Recovery Services - San Bernardino Recovery Center San Bernardino California

“Where one road ends and another begins” is the motto of Inland Valley Recovery Services (IVRS), a nonprofit agency that provides addiction recovery services to chemically dependent individuals. IVRS’ treatment programs promote maintaining abstinence through providing clients with the tools to achieve insight into the issues that led them to addiction, and the mental and physical strength to lead them to recovery. IVRS offers adult, youth and family services that include residential, outpatient, dual disorder counseling and transitional living treatment.

ABOUT INLAND VALLEY RECOVERY SERVICES – SAN BERNARDINO RECOVERY CENTER

Inland Valley Recovery Services (IVRS) is a CARF-accredited nonprofit counseling and treatment center that serves more than 5,000 individuals a year. The organization is headquartered in Upland, 35 miles east of Los Angeles. The San Bernardino location offers outpatient treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The center offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and general outpatient treatment; both programs last around 8-12 weeks. The program introduces clients to the 12-step model of recovery.

IVRS contends that “a solid 12-step foundation is key for continued success at sobriety.” Also included in the treatment program are the Matrix Model, which blends self-help, education, and counseling, and Terence T. Gorski’s evidence-based practices for relapse prevention.

Treatment also draws heavily from the “social model” concept: IVRS delivers most therapy in a group setting, encouraging group discussions and peer-to-peer support. However, clients do also receive some individual counseling.

In addition, the center offers weekly aftercare sessions for graduates.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, IVRS is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of counselors, therapists, support staff, and administrators, some of whom are bilingual in Spanish and English. The two individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the center a four-star rating and a five-star rating respectively for the staff’s level of training and experience.

At the time of this writing, secondary sites yielded mostly positive feedback, with a 4.5-star average rating based on 45 reviews on Facebook, where the facility may have the ability to manage its own page.[1] IVRS also has five five-star reviews on Google, and a single one-star rating on Yelp.[2] “This Is Where I First Started My Recovery!!! It’s A Great Place To Come,” J.L. wrote on Facebook.

WHAT STAFF SAY

At the time of this writing, Inland Valley Recovery Services had a 3.8-star average rating based on 21 reviews on employment review site Indeed.com.[3] The reviewers frequently spoke highly of their work with clients, expressing genuine concern for their wellbeing: “I like giving back to the community and helping those who can’t help themselves. I am their strength until they can be strong for themselves once again,” one anonymous reviewer wrote in a representative review.

A number of individuals did, however, criticize the work environment. “This is not a healthy place to work” wrote one anonymous former employee, reporting a lack of organization.

FINANCING

According to IVRS’s website, the organization accepts most private health insurance policies, including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Humana, and United. For private pay clients, a single outpatient session, be it group or individual counseling, costs $100. Meanwhile, the IOP costs $200 per session. IVRS also has a relationship with medical loans company Prosper Healthcare Lending, to increase the accessibility of treatment.

The two individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the center a four-star rating and a five-star rating for its affordability.
