ABOUT ADI-OP, INC. OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Since 1975, Alert Driving Inc., (ADI) has been providing outpatient treatment and DUI courses in San Jose, Calif.—it’s one of just 133 addiction treatment centers with dedicated DUI services in the whole of the state of California. DUI programming for court-ordered individuals is the main offering, but the center also provides an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and standard outpatient care for individuals struggling with substance misuse. The facility is located on a major street south of central San Jose, and does not provide medical detox.
Services are available in Spanish and English, placing ADI-OP among the 661 (roughly half) treatment facilities in California with Spanish services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
If you’re a DUI client, the length of your treatment will be mandated by the court, based on age and blood alcohol content (BAC) at time of arrest. First offenders may receive six weeks to nine months of programming while multiple offenders are required to attend sessions for 12 to 18 months, though DUI clients at all levels will rarely be required to attend treatment more than once or twice a week. Sessions are designed to fit around a work or school schedule, being held in the morning and evening Monday through Thursday, as well as Saturday mornings.
IOP clients will attend three three-hour sessions per week, and standard outpatient care is tailored to the client’s needs. Most programming time is spent in group therapy, though the center also uses an array of evidence-based treatment methods, personalized into individual treatment plans.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Treatment is administered by certified substance use and DUI counselors. The single individual polled by Best-rehabs.com to date — themselves a staffer — gave the facility five out of five stars for the level of credentials found in its staff.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Best-rehabs.com hasn’t yet polled any ADI alumni, but the center has mostly positive feedback on secondary sites, with average ratings of 3.8 stars based on 10 reviews on Yelp, and on Facebook, where the facility can manage its own page, a four-star rating and two five-star ratings. Two of the three negative reviewers complained of disorganization, and isolated comments cited overcrowding and inadequate programming.
But many more reviewers praised the center’s understanding and willingness to work with clients’ individual situations, and wrote that beyond resolving their DUI, they had learned a lot about their drinking, sometimes stopping altogether with the help of the course. “ADI was so helpful, they worked with my financial situation and i was sooo nervous about being in a group talking about my situation but everyone was very understanding, no one ever judged me and the counselors are very awesome,” Priscilla wrote in a representative comment on Yelp.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The single staffer polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, Ed, gave very positive feedback. “We’re small and focus on individual counseling at affordable price. ACRPS trained staff for best possible relapse prevention results,” Ed wrote, giving the center five out of five stars for its honesty, treatment protocols, willingness to put clients’ interests first, and the overall quality of its care.
FINANCING
The cost of the initial assessment is $295. Additional costs depend on the length and intensity of treatment. According to ADI’s website, most major PPO insurance plans are accepted on an out-of-network basis, and uninsured clients can also pay out-of-pocket.
