ABOUT LATINO COMMISSION – SAN FRANCISCO, CA

The Latino Commission (TLC) comprises multiple facilities located in San Mateo, San Francisco, and Tulare Counties in California, offering treatment for individuals struggling with substance abuse. The facilities provide residential and outpatient treatment options for adult men and women, young women with children, and transitional living environments for both genders. TLC also offers comprehensive services including health education and prevention programs for teenagers, case management, safety net services, and public awareness.

TREATMENT AND ASSESSMENT

TLC adopts a holistic and family-centered approach to treatment. Referring to their “Cultural Model,” TLC emphasizes the importance of family in the Latino community, highlighting that it takes precedence over oneself. TLC states on its website, “With the paramount importance of protecting the family and community as a primary motivation for change, we developed an innovative model using Cultural Affirmation and Restoration of Family Traditions as key elements, where the well-being of the person/family/community is central to the process.”

TLC’s residential treatment facilities offer residential substance abuse treatment and therapy with an average length of stay ranging from 3 to 6 months. The residential facilities provide individual counseling, group counseling and therapy, and family counseling across four defined phases. Once residents complete the fourth and final phase of residential treatment, they are referred to aftercare services such as sober living houses and outpatient services through TLC.
