ABOUT CALIFORNIA HIGHLANDS VISTAS IN FALLBROOK, CA
California Highlands Vistas, located in Fallbrook, Calif., offers residential and detoxification treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health. The facility is located in northern San Diego County on a two and a half acre property. California Highlands has a second facility located in Banning, California.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To be admitted, clients should contact the facility either by phone or by completing an inquiry form on its website. Most clients begin treatment with detoxification, and proceed to the California Highlands Vistas residential program. Residential treatment lasts for 30 to 60 days.
The facility’s treatment program uses a range of treatment methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing (MI). California Highlands Vistas seeks to provide a “positive experience of addiction treatment” by individualizing each client’s experience. Throughout treatment, clients receive individual and group therapy, mental health education, relapse prevention resources, aftercare planning, and help with goal setting.
Participants who are in need of detoxification will be monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and may receive medication during their stay at California Highlands Vistas. The facility also offers equine therapy and frequent hiking opportunities. Families are able to participate in the treatment program through regular family therapy sessions.

According to the facility’s website, the treatment team at California Highlands Vistas includes a master’s-level therapist, a psychiatrist, and a “team of licensed staff.”
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The California Highlands Vistas website states that their residence is a “high-end facility” offering a “luxury feel.” Set on a beautiful landscape surrounded by nature, the facility provides meals cooked by a private chef, all necessary linens, modern living areas, outdoor spaces, and a garden. Photos on the facility’s website show a large, stately home with a large kitchen, elegant living room, an outdoor patio, a library with a piano and pool table, an in-ground pool, and private bedrooms and bathrooms.
REVIEWS
At the time of this writing, there had been no California Highlands Vistas alumni or loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com, and there were no third-party reviews available for the facility.
However, there was one review available for another California Highlands location in Banning, California. On that facility’s Yelp page, there is an overall rating of one out of five stars based on one review. [1] The reviewer stated that he was treated poorly by staff and fellow residents. He wrote, “When I was ‘asked to leave’ they set up a Halfway house without my permission. Then recommended “a lgbt recovery center” very condescending. The only thing nice about this place is the sweet and caring chef!”
FINANCING

However, the facility accepts insurance and offers payment plans to clients who do not have health insurance. The facility website states that staff at California Highlands Vistas are experienced with navigating insurance benefits and will ensure that treatment services are covered.
