ABOUT CEDAR HOUSE LIFE CHANGE CENTER

Established in 1973, Cedar House Life Change Center serves men, women, and families through a continuum of treatment services for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our center, located in Bloomington, Calif., offers detoxification services, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, aftercare programming, sober living support, specialized residential treatment for pregnant and parenting women, and programming for individuals with DUI offenses.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Prior to admission, each client works with a Cedar House admissions specialist to determine the most appropriate level of care and develop a personalized treatment plan. Those who require detox typically begin their stay with withdrawal management, which is medically monitored and lasts up to one week.

Once stabilized, clients may transition to residential treatment, which utilizes the 12-Steps and Hazelden’s Balance Curriculum. Individual therapy is offered on an as-needed basis, and clients participate in groups that address topics including relapse prevention, anger management, parenting, trauma, and other physical and mental health concerns. A specialized residential track for pregnant and parenting mothers also offers children’s programming and family-oriented recreation and social activities.

Outpatient treatment is offered as a step-down or standalone treatment option. Programming is based on the Matrix Model, and counseling is conducted in a group setting. Sessions are held three times a week, with hours in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Clients who complete outpatient or residential treatment are eligible to attend the center’s bi-monthly aftercare groups. These hour-long sessions allow program graduates to discuss their recovery in a safe, supportive environment. Additionally, those with at least 30 days of sobriety may apply for Cedar House’s long-term sober living program.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The six loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com provided mixed reviews of Cedar House. Those who were disappointed with the care their loved ones received reported a variety of fairly specific problems. Elizabeth, who gave the center’s treatment effectiveness two out of five stars, took issue with the 12-step paradigm in general, while C.T. experienced communication problems following their son’s admission to the E.R.

When asked how likely they were to recommend the facility to others, four surveyed loved ones provided an average rating of 4.75 out of five stars. “Good program and staff,” K.B. wrote in their review. The facility’s cleanliness and its affordability both received four-star ratings, and the staff’s level of training and experience received 3.75 stars. “They work really hard with addicts and family,” Karen wrote, adding that more beds would alleviate a long waiting list and allow the facility to save more lives.

The center’s family participation received three stars, and the program’s exercise and leisure options received a slightly lower rating of 2.75 stars. The lowest ratings were given to the center’s holistic offerings and its connectivity, which received 1.5 stars and 1.75 stars, respectively. In his review, James indicated that clients’ phone and internet access was too “restricted.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

She specifically praised the “compassionate” and understanding staff, describing Cedar House as “an awesome place to be both working and getting help.” While she credited Cedar House for offering more services than many other rehabs, she noted that the center was missing a transitional living program for women with children.

Cedar House Life Change Center Reviews

Thank you Cedar House for all the educational tools & support that I neeed to be 3,068 days clean & sober.
I have never seen anyone attend this treatment center and remain clean for even a short length of time. They are not effective, many attendees stays are paid for with tax dollars and they are a complete waste of money.
They took my son by ambulance, dropped him off at an ER and left him. No follow-up and they didn't know what hospital the ambulance took him. He wasn't even there 24 hours. They don't return calls even when it's urgent. The room was filthy. He said the food was good and people were nice, but very unprofessional.
Thank you Cedar house for showing me how to live clean and sober. Going on 5 years of sobriety. Thank you for all the support and the tools to stay clean.
NICE TO SEE. A FAMILIAR FACE ,want to say thanks to Head Chef who has been getting down in the kitchen from my day 1, I think back in 2003 at least! That's fattening up all of us for 2 in a half decades I believe. Couldn't believe he didn't have more gray hair. Thankyou Chef!
