ABOUT LOS ANGELES CENTERS FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE – SANTA FE SPRINGS OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Part of the State of California’s Department of Health Care Service, Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA) is a community-based, behavioral health treatment provider. One of four facilities in the L.A. CADA network, the Santa Fe Springs location offers outpatient-based services for adults and adolescents (ages 12 to 17) who are struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
Along with its outpatient programs for chemical dependency, Santa Fe Springs provides specialized programs for domestic abuse, HIV/AIDS support, anger management, and parenting. Services are delivered in both English and Spanish.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
L.A. CADA’s outpatient programs at Santa Fe Springs vary in intensity and duration, depending on clients’ individual needs, which are assessed through an initial substance abuse and psychiatric evaluation. The facility is equipped to treat co-occurring disorders through integrated programming and ongoing medication management.
The substance abuse curriculum consists of individual and family counseling, process groups, gender-specific group therapy, and educational presentations. Treatment typically lasts between six and nine months. The adolescent programs also incorporate pro-social, recreational activities. To address specific issues that may contribute to addictive behavior, outpatient programs may include evidence-based offerings, such as Seeking Safety and Breaking Barriers.
Outpatient services sessions are held in the morning, afternoon, and evening on Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
L.A. CADA’s Santa Fe Springs facility also operates a six-month drug counseling program and five- to six-month drug diversion program designed to satisfy court-ordered requirements. Comprising educational lectures and group counseling, these programs incorporate urinalysis testing.
Other specialized programs are rooted in satisfying court or probation requirements. These include a 26-week anger management program, 52-week program for domestic violence offenders, and 52-week parenting program. HIV testing, education, and support also is available, and the Santa Fe Springs location facilitates no-cost parent support meetings on the first and last Saturday of each month. If applicable, intensive case management is available through CalWORKS, a welfare organization that provides supportive services for at-risk children and their families.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
